Does anyone know of a truely low cost place to have my dog neutered. I have found plenty for cats, but not dogs. I am in Grand Prairie and could go to Arlington, Irving or Ft. Worth, maybe the close side of Dallas.

Thanks for any help,

J.

Keller is having a low cost event February 9th. The website is www.cityofkeller.com I am not sure if it is only for the citizens of Keller or not.

I am not sure what the going rate is around, but I just got my dog at the end of 2005 and it ran about 60.00. I go to a place on Arkansas. It' in between Collins and 360. It's called Arkansas and Browning Vet or something like that. There phone number is ###-###-####. Hope this helps ya.

Hi J.,

I know that the Cedar Hill Veterinary Clinic used to be VERY reasonable. They do book weeks in advance though. It's not that far from you either. The Arlington Humane Society does them too, out of a local vet clinic. I think $60 for doxie size(don't quote me on that).
BTW, we have two doxie mix pups. They are half doxie, half lhaso apso. Quite a mix, I know. But they are adorable. Good luck in your search :)

J.,

I believe that the SPCA does this at a low cost. Maybe call them and see what they say. Also, this does not have anything to do with neutering, but I noticed that you said you were a Medical transcriptionist. I am a childcare provider and am in search of something else like that. Do you mind me asking how you got started? I was a secretary for several years before I started caring for children, so I do have good typing skills. Thanks for any info you can give me.

I feel a little bad writing to you about this since I don't remember all the facts, but maybe someone else out there who reads this will, or maybe you can do a little research and find out for yourself. Years ago, when I had to get my cats neutered, someone told me about an organization I could call/write to that would send me a certificate to take to a participating vet to get very low cost spay or neutering for cats and dogs. I think it was something like $15 with the certificate at the time for cats and $25 for dogs. Now, that was many years ago so I'm sure it would cost more now. I'm not even sure if they still have the program, but again, maybe if you call around to local vets or animal shelters and if it's still around, maybe they would know.

I will say that when I had to get my cats declawed and my brother-in-law had to get a dog euthanized, we called around to several vets and it's amazing the difference in price for procedures. There were vets who charged $150 to euthanize a dog and then there were some that charged $15 for the same thing. Do a lot of callign around for prices, if you haven't already. You may just find a vet who charges very little for neutering because they feel that's the most important thing you can do for the unwanted animal population. Good luck!
