My sister named hers Maggie and Mollie but regretted it once my niece was born because she couldn't use those names. Something to keep in mind...

watch her for a few days and figure out her personality then name her. i had a cat when we first got her she clinged to me for a week like static cling. she meowed like static on the radio it got named static. one cat we had was black and i was trying to make her an outside cat and she kept breaking into the house she got called bandit. we had one cat that would get into everything literally he got named trouble cause he was always in trouble. i have named all my animals this way by watching them for a week or so but since its reddish gold consider penny.

Since it is so close to St. Patrick's Day and you are talking about reddish colored fur, I would pick something Irish. Bridie, Bridgett, Shannon, Erin, Cassidy, Kelly, Kerry, etc.

I think you should always watch the pet for a few days, because I've misnamed animals by naming them too soon.

S.,

Call your new furry baby girl "RITA" or "SADIESUE".....I think RITA would be best for a "redish gold" girl....But I had a great little girl dog and I named her "SADIE" and somehow SUE got tacked on to the and she became "SADIESUE".....lived to be 15 wonderful years. I wish you and your new pup a long, loving and happy relationship. (I miss my dog)

Blessings.....

Think of famous actresses that have red hair. Lucy, Nicole, Lyndsey... etc
I had a female Irish setter, we knew she'd be trouble, so we named her Trouble.

Ruby? Sandy? Annie (the red hair thing)? Several neighbors on our street have named their dogs using "old fashioned" names like Etta, Ella and Lucy and I have to admit I think those are really cute too.
