R.K.
I love to go out on New Year's Eve. Getting all dressed up and go dancing, drinking champagne (not to excess) kissing at midnight.
Alas no one to date.
But I do have some bubbly in the refrig and I can always kiss the dogs.
My big night out was Saturday, seeing my husband's band, while my inlaws took DD. So tonight we forfeited New Year's, as we have no babysitter. I'm really not all upset about it, but feel I should be more excited. My friends are all out of state, and DH's friends stopped New Year's associations altogether when they had young kids.
That said, anyone else feel like this is just a normal night?

we usually stay in for the night....so our teenage son can have a party.
works perfect for me!
YEAH!!!!Husband is working now, my 4yr old just peed for the 2nd time in his pants, no plans for the evening. All i'm hoping for today is for a glass of wine and maybe it will feel like new years!
LOL... This is the FIRST time that I can remember that it DOES feel like a New Year / New Year's Eve.
I've gone out, stayed home, done Times Square, had parties at home, gone to parties, lit off fireworks, gone on trips... But its always just felt like some random night. With some arbitrary "thing" attached to it. Its SUPPOSED to be New Years... But I always felt kinda blah. Like I was supposed to be doing xyz... But only did it because I was supposed to be.
BUT...Tonight Im going to bed as early as possible... Because so am soooooo excited to wake up tomorrow Divorced! :D :D :D
Not normal, but not so much fun right now either. Sometimes we head to my best friend's house and have an overnight party there. Sometimes we stay here and I make a special late dinner and we have snacky stuff all night. However, The Mister is ignoring me when I tell him that it's getting late and I need to get to the grocery store if he wants his special dinner. It's going to be cereal if he doesn't give me the checkbook.
I never get all excited about New Years. Don't see the big deal.
My husband's a NYPD sergeant - he's at work today like many NYE's - the overtime pay is really good and we're not partiers anyway. that way he lets the younger guys take off and they then owe him a faovr another time in the future. My daughter will be home soon from a 5 day retreat, I hope to pry my son away from his gaming - and maybe we can all go to the movies or slouch on the couch to watch a movie together. I'll probably be snoring by 11:00 and my kids will wake me at 11:50. Sparkling cider and then off to blissful sleep. NO plans at all for tomorrow and I'm so thankful! so while it doesn't feel like a typical NYE - it's pretty normal for me. ;o)
we never do much for new years - between christmas, our anniversary (the 30th), and my mil's birthday (the 31st), it just gets lost in the shuffle. and lots of people i know, don't celebrate it much. i was just discussing this with my boss today.
last year, i kid you not, my 5 year old and i watched star wars and were asleep by 9:30 - and i dvr'ed the ball dropping and watched it the next day.
plus we are in the middle of a snowstorm, and temps are dropping rapidly.
most people i know are not all that jazzed about nye. of those i know who do celebrate, it usually includes alcohol, and often driving tipsy/drunk. so to me, it seems a pretty pointless holiday. just does not sound fun to me at all.
My 15-year-old daughter has a few friends over tonight. We had pizza and they're playing games and my significant other came over for awhile. I've done a variety of things on New Years Eves and really when you get right down to it, it's just another day/night. No biggie. I always feel like if I don't do something I'm missing out, but this year none of my friends are doing anything. It's just a good night to stay in, stay safe and warm and relax. Happy New Year to you!
We stay home but we make it special. We spent the day toboganning, we are having a seafood feast for dinner tonight, and then we will watch movies and play games until midnight. Tomorrow we will attend a Levee, and we are having friends over for a turkey dinner. It is what you make of it.
I had alot of fun making a big tray of frosted and decorated cookies for a friend's house party. Her husband was thrilled that I brought over a big tray of dessert. He was making chili for all the kids going over there.
We are staying home... and I am resting. I will be 1 of the billion people watching the events @ Times Square.
Happy New Year !
Just another night. Husband retired NYC police so we really never did much because he was usually working. Sometimes we make it until midnight sometimes we do not. Went out for an early dinner. Years past we did attend some parties if he was off, but really not that into it.
Happy New Year Mamas!
It's never been a big deal for me. Just another day on the calendar.
