Does Your Husband Help You Diet?

When you start a diet and your husband knows about it, does he help you?
Would he eat grill chicken and vegetables for a week (or what ever you would eat) without complain?
Would he avoid eating/buying anything bad in front of you?
Would he stop you from eating something bad even if it is something he likes or if you lie with all your teeth that you already are as thin as you wanted to be even if you just stared your diet 2 days ago?
Is your husband your best diet partner or your worst enemy when you want to start a diet?

What can I do next?

My husband is very helpful. He loves to go to the fruit market so I can get stuff (I'm on weight watchers). He will get mint chocolate chip ice cream which I can't stand so I am not tempted to eat it!

My husband does not help. He's not my worst enemy, but he doesn't help.

None of that. He is happy to let me have my own health goals, but he is not going to eat brown rice or butterless popcorn with me. If I complain about how I look, he does get frustrated because he hates it when women complain about how they look. He will compliment me (which is encouraging) but if I go overboard about how much more weight I want to lose, he gets frustrated and I think feels that I'm too hard on myself. If I tell him I really want to stop eating something, he would probably notice if I tried to sneak it. However, I believe in a small treat at least once a day, whether it is a sip of his Coke, a bite of his ice cream, or my own piece of dark chocolate. He will make fun of the fact that I will eat a double batch of popcorn on my own while we watch a movie or pound a Garbage Plate in 3 minutes without help. :) I like being healthy, love working out, and LOVE food, so I'm pretty self-motivated most of the time. [Work out hard enough to eat the way I want to.]

When I start a diet my husband is the most supportive person in the whole wide world. Once I get comfortable with whatever my eating plan/diet is... and am doing well on it, he tends to forget that it still takes just as much willpower as it did in the beginning, and he gets a little more "relaxed" with having things in front of me.

He did low-carbs with me the first time I ever did that. We ate eggs for breakfast together every day. He'd even make my omelette for me!
But, my husband also tends to eat healthier than I do all the time...whether I'm dieting or not. He is VERY consistent about making good food choices. It makes it easier on me when I diet without him doing anything different (which he does act differently in the beginning of any diet)....but harder when I am not dieting...because then I tend to feel guilty! LOL

I will go through periods where I try to eat healthier and he still wants his junk. But just because he brings it home and it's in the house doesn't mean I have to eat it.

My hubby is very forgetful! Ive been successfully dieting for a month so far this year and about 6 months in 2010. While dieting he does things like walk up to me with a piece of cake and say you want some or gets dessert after dinner everytime Im having a battle in my head about wanting something sweet!! lol I assume he knows whats going on in my head! haha If I remind him that Im on a diet he says sorry and eats his dessert quicker! :) How he does support me is he will grill chicken or anything I have planned for dinner. He will eat the healthy food if thats what were having for dinner. We both love veggies so never really a problem there. He is a meat, potatoe, and veggie kinda guy. He also supports me with compliments. Ive lost a total of 70lbs in the last 15 months, since the birth of my daughter. So when he hugs me he always tells me it's so noticable how much smaller I am and he gives me tons of compliments anytime Im trying on clothes. I think the reason I have been so successful this time is because Im finally doing it for myself so it takes a lot for someone else to effect me. I always thought I was doing it for myself before but this time it's really different.

Mine had gastric by-pass almost four months ago so he's on his own food wise. I have lost weight just by not "eating together."

Works great for us since over the last 25 years we became "eating buddies" and has worked against each other. He's lost probably 60-70 pounds since his surgery and I have lost 45 pounds since last summer.
