I am currently working full time, but my husband and I are trying to figure a way financially for me to stay home. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or methods they used to cut costs at home?
Thanks!

I read a book and went to a seminar where they had a jar system. I would recommend reading the book to find out more about it, but so far it has really worked for me. The book is called Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker.
If you would like a quick explanation of it feel free to call me at ###-###-####.

Hi V.!!! I was in the same situation about 5 months ago! I have started my own home-based business that I would love to talk with you about. It is so much fun and I get to be home with my big guy everyday! Let's figure out a time we can talk about it.
Good luck!!

First, look at the $$ you are saving by staying home ie..reduced drycleaning, reduced gas, longer time between oil changes/new tires, etc... and no daycare (biggie).

Then look at your current bills and shop around. Is there a better rate for phone, cable, insurance, and can you cut down cell phone cost (lower # hours plan?)? These may seem somewhat small, but it all adds up. For example, if you can cut say $10 off your cable bill per month that's over $100 for the year.

Start grocery shopping at Super Target or Wal Mart (prices are really better there) and use coupons when possible.

Everyone's circumstances are different, but I believe staying home is more possible than most women think it is.

Good luck to you.

It is not easy first of all. It was and still is hard for me at least to tell myself that I really dont need that pair of shoes or I really could just cook at home even though its friday night. The first step is creating a budget to see what really is needed versus wanted. It was hard to put our cell phones on the wanted list but it is a want and not a need. We ended up being able to keep those but cut things like the newspaper and cut down our channels on cable and we eat out alot less. It really is doable but sacrifices had to be made but its worth it to stay home. Yes I do look forward to going back to work and doubling our income but for now we keep cars longer have stayed in our house longer then planned but I get to see my daughters flourish. Good Luck

One small thing that has really made a difference is that on weekends we make bigger pots of meals -- lamb stew, sausage cassoulet -- that are really easy to throw together, and then we freeze little sandwich-size portions of them to have later. "eating at home" then becomes a non-issue every night, its just 5 minutes in the microwave for a good, home-cooked meal.

when DH makes pancakes we just have him make a lot more, and then freeze them too (just wax paper and freezer bags), and you have hot pancakes during the week, just pop them in the toaster oven for a few minutes, about the same as if you are making toast.

the time and stress this saves me leaves a LOT more time to take care of other things in a more relaxed manner. it is amazing how much stress there is around getting meals together, and how much free energy is freed up when that is out of the way. hope that helps. :-)

I work from home and it has enabled me to do so. I don't sell stock or deliver products, but I do work hard! :) Let me know if that is an option you guys are thinking about. Last month my check was $6600, so it is a real option.

I work from home and love what I do. Please call or email me. You can actually retire within 2-5 years if you are a real go-getter!
