BAHAWAHA! Yes, knowing there's two sides of every story can suck the joy right out of things, huh?
:)
I forget the company it's for, honestly, but the commercial shows a couple in the bathroom with a recording conflict screen between them. After some conversation the woman expresses that she doesn't like feeling like it sees her naked. He snidely responds "At least someone does." Silence.
It makes me want to throttle whoever wrote that. 1. it's not necessary to promote their DVR product and 2. I feel it's an immature response to her concern. It makes it seem like it's al the woman's "fault" that he doesn't see her naked. Maybe he should stop fighting over the DVR and figure out what she needs. Anytime my DH has dared roll out something like that I've pointed out that I'm fried. How about a little help here? I don't want roses. I want someone else to do the laundry. Fold some towels. That would go a long way some nights.
So maybe my question is, if your spouse ever dared roll out a comment like that, how would you respond?

LOLOLOL......I think you are overthinking the stupidity of the commercial. I think it's so stupid, I ignore it.
I thought the commercial was funny. If my husband made that comment I would laugh and say "yep".
Okay... as a wife who has fibromyalgia I thought that commercial was freaking hysterically funny. I'm sure my husband had nodded along with it and muttered under his breath. It was clever.
my son loathes that commercial.
I thought it was funny.
He was TRYING to get put on the couch for the night so he could watch TV.
I thought it was funny, and I would laugh if my husband said it to me, but we have that kind of relationship. We have a healthy sex life, but we still joke all the time that it's not enough. I've said the same thing to my husband about not wanting roses, just want the dishes done. Now we joke that "I did the dishes" is our new code. He comes to bed saying he did the dishes, I know he's in the mood.
It does make you think that maybe if they didn't have DVR, he'd get to see her naked more often.
I thought the commercial was stupid, too.
Eh, I think it's inappropriate, but I don't give 60 seconds of commercial time more thought than that. We don't pay attention to commercials very often anyways...I'd let it go :).
The purpose of the commercial is to get your attention and to sell you something. It got your attention, but didn't sell you anything.
On the other hand, it got the attention of men and many men are thinking, "Boy, you got that right!" Or the men are smiling at the inference.
It depends on your perspective.
Good luck to you and yours.
Yeah, I think it's just stupid. My husband laughed at it, but he doesn't know why.
I hate the commercial. It is just one more thing on t.v. that makes me feel incredibly uncomfortable if my 11 year-old-daughter and almost 14 year-old-son are in the room. As just adults, I think there may be couples who find it humorous. But as a mother with my kids in the room, because it comes on in the middle of the day on regular channels, I feel awful. We just change the channel when it starts but I find these "funny" commercials tired and over done.
I haven't seen the commercial - ironically b/c I fast forward through all commercials using my DVR. LOL My response would be "Bite Me!" Fortunately, 9 times out of 10, that would end with my husband and I laughing b/c he would say something like., "Gladly!" or "Where?" Not that my marriage is perfect - he sure could fold a towel or two once in a freaking while but we try not to let the little stuff get us down too much!
Darn I have not seen it but now I want to!!!
