K.B.
I had both my babies at Harris DT, most recently last September. I love knowing that the bridge to cooks is just RIGHT there. It's a great facility and the staff was great. I used Dr. Michael Fite.
We are about to begin trying for baby #2 in May. We live in Keller but hubby works south of I20 and I want him to come to the big apts. Had previa with baby 1 and now have some small things that I want to watch like thyroid, etc. Nothing big but I want to be careful. Right now I see Dr Tatum at All Saints. Love him but he only will deliver the baby the 3 days he is there and only during office hours. Any other time it rolls to over 40 doctors and I get who is on call. I understand that group practices work together but 40 is a lot! A women would be nice but not a huge deal. Am I crazy for picking Harris over Baylor? I have not seen both but though the Cooks bridge seemed valuable. Baby #1 was born in Tulsa and I had really bad nurses so that worries me the most. Thanks for the help. Baby #2 will be over 5 years in the making and I just can wait to get started.

Dr.William Maxwell is excellent and well known in the medical field. I delivered my first child under his care at Harris FTW(downtown). He has an office at the hospital and the nursing staff was great.
well me ihad both my kids at harris that is a good place i like the doctors there and most of the nurses.....
I had Dr. Robert Zwernemann as my obgyn but Dr. Laura Bradford actually delivered me. I highly recommend their practice. They are great!
I also have to note that if you go with Zwernemann, he isn't likely to prescribe pain medicine afterward so....just fyi! Laura, on the other hand does.
:)
I can not say enough good things about Dr. Bradford. Her office is right after 30, so it would be a good middle point for you and hubby, just know that her office wait gets really long. She was wonderful with me, I had some complications, and she was right on top of it. I delievered all natural at Harris Methodist and my nurses were great for the most part.
We used Dr Zwernemann (male). He is in the same practice as Laura Bradford. I would highly recommend their practice and Harris Downtown. That is where I will deliver again when we get ready for #2.
I am pretty sure that Dr. Mickey Hooper delivers out of harris downtown. She is absolutely wonderful. You might call her and find out. Her number is ###-###-#### and her bedside manner is wonderful. Just all in all a great doctor.
I had both my sweet boys at Harris Downtown and I think the sky bridge is invaluable as well. Not a crazy reason for choosing a hospital at all. Also, note: Decker no longer delivers at Harris. He and his group (my midwives included) left to go to Baylor. So sad, but I have been seeing the UNT midwife group also associated with a physician group. Kathleen Donadlson and her team are incredible, but I second that if you are high risk, Tabor and the group he is associated with may be worth your time to talk with.
Best of luck!
Dr Douglas Decker is very good. My best friend works in Labor and Delivery at Harris. I think the nurses are great.
We just had our son at Baylor in August. He had to be in NICU............thet told us when we left to take him to Cook's if he got sick again, they deal with babies better there........this is BAYLOR'S NICU telling ALL their baby patient's to go to Cook's. We are going for #3 soon and will be going to Harris because of this.........with the Cook's bridge.
We hope to use Tabor since he's the only high risk that will deliver.
I would suggest finding a doctor with a smaller practice. It sounds like that is what you are more comfortable with. I would then ask the doctor which hospital they prefer to deliver at and go with that one. As far as all of the Baylor NICU nurses telling the patients that if their child needs to be readmitted to a hospital then they should go to Cooks- I would say that would be what every other hospital would advise for readmission. Cooks is a childrens hospital. It does not mean that the NICU at Baylor isn't a good NICU- it does not take admissions from outside the hosital- so Cooks would be where the children should go. Harris would tell you the same. Just had to put that out there. The same neonatoligists that are at Cooks also cover Harris and Baylor. The group is called Pediatrix.
I had my first son at Harris Downtown and the nurses were invaluable! I had such a wonderful experience that I hated to move when I had my second. My doctor was Cynthia Robbins near the hospital district and there are only I believe 3 female doctors and 1 male in their practice. So you at least might know one of the other doctors if they do deliver you. Good luck! I hope this helps.
