My family just moved to Arlington from California. I am looking for recommendations for doctors in the area. My husband and I have a 16 month old--so we need to find a pediatrician as well as a general doctor for myself (for annual exam and migraine treatment). Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

They are not in Arlington, they are in Alexandria, but for a pediatrician, I LOVE Pediatric Associates of Alexandria.
Dr. Barbara Stevens is on North Fairfax Dr in Ballston (Arlington). She has had her own practice for about two years, and she was recommended to us from her work within a group before that. I think she's AWESOME. She's very respectful of one's own parenting choices, while also ensuring your child gets the best medical care possible. She always remembers our history and always has time for an appointment - we've never had to wait even a day for a sick visit.
I can't speak highly enough of her, it's our 3rd ped and hopefully our last.
Oh, and for a family doctor, <a href="http://www.fmifc.com/drtheisz.html">Dr. Theiz</a> has been great for my husband and I. He was super nice and helpful when I was sick, pregnant and had terrible heartburn. He also has great hours, some days staying open until 8pm to accommodate working parents. He has this cool electronic system too, so you never get a paper script, he just sends it off to the pharmacy of your choice.
For your child, if you are near Falls Church/ Seven Corners area, Dr. Jason Robertson (or any of the other doctors at Sleepy Hollow Pediatrics) would be great. For you, again in Falls Church, I see Dr. Andrea Schmeig and she is very good. Both of these doctors are young (about my age) which I like, as I have found I communicate better with younger physicians. Dr. Schmeig is a "family doctor" so she would be available to see kids, too, but her office doesn't have the on-call through the night doctors and so forth, like Sleepy Hollow Pediatrics does.
I have an eight month old daughter, so I recently had to make this decision myself. I had an overwhelming number of people recommend Northern Virginia Pediatrics. They are located off of the 66 at 107 N Virginia Ave, Falls Church, VA 22046 ###-###-####). We had a variety of the pediatricians at the practice recommended to us (Dr. Barakat, Dr. Baldrate, Dr. Kelly, Dr. Myers, all of them really) and we chose Dr. Amin Barakat. Our daughter has had some unexpected health issues and he, along with some of the other doctors and lab staff, has been wonderful to work with. They have wonderful hours and are very responsive. my husband and I have tried several local dr's, and have finally found one we really like! Dr. Michael Berard right here in College park! We have also seen Mary Kay at that office, who was also quite good.
I also absolutely adore my sons pediatrician, although it is a bit of a drive. The office is Kensington Pediatrics, and the person we LOVE is named Nancy. She is very gentle with babies--asks lots of great questions--tries natural approaches as well as medical--and just is an all around wonderful person.
Hi L., I used to live in Arlington and I moved to Fairfax 2 years ago but I still take my son since he was a newborn to Alexandria Pediatrics. My favorite doctors there: Dr. Thomas Sullivan (the father) and Dr. Balisteri. I never had any problem with them.

Sleepy Hollow Pediatrics at Seven Corners is a very reputable practice in the Washington area. All the doctors there are well liked. ###-###-####. You'll have to check if they take your insurance. You have asked this at a great time just when the Washingtnian magazine has it's anual TOP Doctor issue. You should pick that up. My husband sees a GP named Dr. Patrick Correnty at Arlington Hospital. His practice is Correnty & Pappas. He likes them both. I don't have their number on hand. Hope this helps

My kids go to Sleepy Hollow Pediatrics at Seven Corners. They have 8 doctors and can always see you for a sick visit, even in the evenings and Saturday mornings. The office looks a little old school, but they have some of the best peds in the area. We see Dr. Fox for well visits, but all the docs are good. ###-###-####.

Dr. David Alway of the Neurology & Headache Treatment Center is where my DH goes for his migraine management and he says Dr. Alway is very good.
