Do You Watch Letterman?

I used to. I thought he was funny, smart, quick witted, and just irreverant enough to be funny, without really offedning. He seemed cool, but a little neurotic. I hadn't watched in a long time. Years really. I tuned in last night to see him interview President Clinton and wow! What is wrong with David Letterman? He was off, way off. His comedic timing was completely wrong. He was clearly reading cue cards and pausing in all the wrong places. He didn't ad lib or embellish, just read the words. His interview with President Clinton was akward. He was clearly just reading off a list of questions and not listening to the responses. I was embarassed for him. It was like he was drunk or high or mentally out of it somehow. His face was puffy. He looked old and dazed and confused. Is it just me? Have you seen him lately? Has anyone heard of something going on with him? Bill was amazing, by the way!

He's suffering from old age.

No, I don't watch him.

Good luck to you and yours.

I just watched a mini-clip and he didn't seem too abnormal.

Maybe he's just getting old. It can be a little shocking when you haven't seen someone for a while, and they take a huge leap in aging. Aging happens that way.

I think that beacuse he's interviewing a former president, he needs to tread carefully.

I have been a Letterman fan since the NBC days. And yes, he's not as funny anymore - I think it's due to him getting older. I think he will retire in teh next five years. I thin khe enjoys his son too much not to retire by then.

Used to love him, stopped watching when I no longer enjoyed his show, about 10 years ago. I don't think his age has anything to do with it as someone suggested, there's plenty of younger ones I can't stand as well, lol!

I rarely watch him. He seems like a crochety old man to me, and just plain mean.

I did the same thing a few months ago. He was interviewing someone I liked so I Tivo'd it and felt the same way as you. I hadn't watched Dave in years and after watching the show and his interaction w/the guests, I felt like his time is up. I always enjoyed his dry sense of humor but it just wasn't the same.

Maybe he had to be careful b/c of all those Al-Queida (sp?) threats and he was interviewing a political figure? idk

I didn't watch the interview last night - I had meant to. I like Clinton - he's even better now that he's not President - not in a bad way - he's gotten more polished and lost weight - does that make sense? When I met him at the Funeral last Friday - Clinton REALLY IMPRESSED ME!! :)

So to your question, Letterman has been off in the last few years...I'm not sure what is his problem...but like you...I used to think he was funny, poking fun at everyone...but it was FUN not mean...his comments a week or two ago about Christie were just rude and mean...and not from a political point but VERY personal about his weight, etc.

I wish I would've recorded it.
