Do You Melt Every Time Your Kiddos Say "I Love You" ?

I get all soft-like, when any of them say it. Then I realize that maybe my oldest is doing it, in order to get something from me. Still I LOVE it. The other day she was bothering my husband SO much. When he finally had it and yelled at her, she batted her eyes and says "DADDY you know I WUV you" knocked his socks off.

What can I do next?

Every. Single. Time. :)

The 4 year old says it with such love, I could just scoop her up and hold her forever.

My favorite lately is when the 19 month old has said it to me. She has done it two times. Once when I was changing her. She grabbed my arm, pulled it close to her with a big hug, kissed it and said, "Uv OO." Two days ago she grabbed my leg in a giant hug and said, "I Uv OO!"

MMMMM, MMMMMM, MMMMMM. The best part of being a mommy!

What gets me is when he looks at me and says "Mommy, I just really LIKE you!" He's my kid, I'm his mom, we're "supposed" to love each other. Like is optional and melts my heart!

Nope :)

I may be terrible, but we say it -and mean it- several times a day. My son is 9... and it's just normal operations. 'Love ya, mom.' can be in response to coming home, leaving, being silly, helping out. I come from a background of 'Think it; Say it.' Love You is interchangeable with 'thank you', 'you're cool', 'you're embarrassing', 'hello', 'goodbye', 'good night', 'I'm running late', 'you're funny', 'you are so NOT funny', 'I'm sorry', 'I'm grateful'.

Ditto, touchy feely fam. Hugs (or knuckles) and smiles in the morning, at night, at picking up/ dropping off.

And... a little morbidly... it's Tradition (tradition!) to make sure the last thing you say to someone (before bed, travel, school, ANY kind of "last thing" you say) is "I love you." or something similar / fun/ kind. My family has had a lot of death in it. You never want the last thing you say to NOT be that.

Yep. It happened just last night, well sorta.. The wife was working late so I took the kids out for pizza (wife isn't really a fan of pizza anyway). The 6 yr old is very in tune with her surroundings and the place is rather kid friendly. About half way through eating she stops, looks up at me and says "thank you for taking us here", these are my step-kids mind you. We have an awesome relationship and the 'i love you' is said from time to time. But I knew her sentiment when she said that.

I love hearing "I love you" from my son, but this is said every morning before going to pre-school and every night before bed, and probably a few times in between.

However - when I get an out of the blue "I love you, Mommy!!" with that BIG HUG that he gives me - I LOVE IT !!! I treasure everyone of them :)

I love it! My hubs loves it even more :-) When he leaves for work in the morning, my 2.5 yr old tells him "have good day daddy!" and ever time, my husband gets that melted heart look on his face <3

Yep! My (3-TODAY) girl gives the best hugs (ask any of her teachers at school)! With mama & daddy, she always includes an "I love you so much!" Sometimes we'll just be doing some random thing and she looks at me all serious and just says it "Mama, I really love you." Then she adds, "and I love daddy, too!" Such sweet babies!!

The BEST part is when he throws in "sweetie."

Hearing "I love you sweetie" always cracks me up even when I'm really mad. The resident 4 1/2 year old sure knows how to diffuse his old mom.

Yes! My favorite right now though is the 2 yr old telling me "Love 'em" as he's running off to play. I call him "Hug-him" so I yell after him "love 'em, Hug-him!" I need to get him saying that on video.

You all are going to think I'm a terrible person but no. My 4 year old says it all the time. Just like she says *everything* all the time. So the melting doesn't happen. The little one has just started saying it so there is some melting with her.
