I found the chair cover on the high chair a pain in the butt to keep clean, so I just threw it out and used the chair without a seat cover. It was much easier to clean the plastic seat without the cover on it.
Hi Moms - looking for a high chair for our second child. We have the Fisher-Price space saver from our first boy, however, I am looking to change over to something else - this one has far too many places for crumbs to gather and the cover states it is not machine washable but I am taking a chance today to see what happens on the hand wash cycle of my machine. I would prefer one that can convert to a booster seat when necessary. Anyone use one that is easy to keep clean? TY

If I had it to do over, I would skip the full-size high chair and just get a booster-style that straps to the chair, like your space saver, but all wipeable plastic. Like this:

It was all we used for our second kid, and if we had known about it with the first we could have saved $100 and the hassle of dealing with the high chair.
I am in the same boat. I had the Space Saver for the 2nd and 3rd kid and it is really beat up. I was going to get a new one for my 4th kid, but I decided that rather than spend money on a high chair we would only use for a year or so, I'd go the Tripp Trapp route. My kids all graduate from the high chair to the Tripp Trapp chair anyway (and still use the Tripp Trapps at ages 9, 6 and 3), so I just ordered the baby his own Tripp Trapp from a website that had a free baby set if you bought the chair (the baby set is the plastic thing that holds the baby in the Tripp Trapp until they are able to sit in it alone). However, the tray is $50 (!!!) so I am not buying it! The baby can eat at the table with the rest of us. I would like a tray, and if I ever see it on sale, I will get one, but I just can't spend $50 on a tray!
p.s. yes, you can wash the cover for the Space Saver in the washing machine. I have done it a million times. Just do it on gentle and let it air dry.

We just got this one. haven't used it yet since I'm not due till September.
What ever you do, get one with a flat top. I have one that has a flat surface and one with a raised apple cut out on it. The one with the flat surface is so much easier to clean. I would get a booster chair with a tray if I could do it again. They are completely plastic so easier to clean.
We bought a wooden one from a catalogue that had a flat, removable tray, and adjustable foot rests. I loved it because it was a breeze to wipe down, was solid, and actually looked nice. With all the baby stuff I seriously got to the point where I couldn't stand to see one more plastic item in my home. We got a Fisher Price high chair as a shower gift and I got rid of it as I hated that crumbs and sticky stuff got into all the grooves and places where the plastic is screwed together. My son used the chair without the tray when he got bigger. The finish on the chair is worn but it could easily look like new if sanded down and restained or painted. It's in the attic waiting to be handed down or given to someone who needs it. I wish I could remember the catalog; it was a little pricey but in my mind worth it.
we've got the fisher price healthy care booster seat. It is made of hard plastic. doesn't catch crumbs, is easy to transport, and easy to set up anywhere.
good luck to you and yours,

Ours didn't convert to a booster specifically, but since it could be adjusted up or down, we pulled it up to the table til DD was 3 or so. We used the Chicco and I would use it again. It also folded up really well for travel.
I don't know what mine is called, but it straps onto the chair at the table. Now that my son is two years old, when he wants to eat on the floor, we can set it on the floor and strap him in. I like that.
