We got a discount for my husbands work, he J. had to go down there to set it up. He had to show a pay stub or work ID or maybe it was both.
OK my question is not morally right=) so save the lectures=)
my company doesnt offer discounts with verizon and I am aware others do. do they actually check to see what employer you have? or do you J. say a name? if so anyone have any names of companies that give a discount?
I get one through my work with sprint and iphone but dont need these services.
i'm cheap and looking to get cheap internet!
Yes I know i'm going to hell=)

Verizon needs to see a badge or paystub in order to give you the discount...they do NOT randomly give it...
Sorry...you can't circumvent the system...
We get 27% discount on our bill through my husband's company.
And no, you won't go to hell!!! I get what you mean about saving money.
My husband gets a discount, but his company pays Verizon out of his paycheck.
Yes. We get a discount at Verizon for working for the school district, but we have to take in a check stub.
I don't think you're going to hell. ;)
We get a discount through verizon but my husband had to show his sheriff's badge.
We get a discount through all the cell phone companies. It's verified through our work email address.
Yes, Verizon checked to make sure my husband worked at the right company. He had to show his ID badge and a current pay stub. I get a discount as well, but his is better so they put us both on his "discount" account.
I am not sure what is offered here because I hate the guy who coordinates it so I won't talk to him. (this would be hands in pockets scuzzy teeth guy) :(
What I do know is the bills come here which is how they track it. So those that take advantage of it, bless their brave souls, have it taken out of their paycheck. Can't see how anyone would be able to piggyback on that unless they know someone who is willing to let their services come out of their paycheck. I can't think of a person in the world I would do that for.
I have had Verizon for the past 12 years. When I found out my hubbys employment had a discount I went to the main branch was given false information and I had what I needed at the time I wanted to switch it was a pain ended up not switching to get discount but did get a 1 time only 12 month discount creditied to my bill for receiving the wrong information from the manager on duty @ the 1800 customer service line. This was the only encounter I ever had with Verizon. If I were you gather his recent paycheck stub, manager contact information with location and phone number for verification, and him since he has to agree and sign that he is employed @ -------- agrees to have it billed under his name and address.
I would do Sprint if it wasn't so expensive I don't have a data plan nor pay for it,it can be blocked free eof charge with Verizon all I have are min. and texting added for 5 bucks a month still too expensive but my contract is ending again and really looking into prepaid cell services but having to purchase an android phone upfront hmmmm not sure which to pick or what company to go with so that is what i'm working on.BTW my inlaws love Trac phones they are inexpensive great doubling min on calling cards andif they get washed, run over with the tractor no biggie they J. go to buy a new one call the call center with their information get their old min.transferred onto their new phones these are no fancy phones but work every where they go camping and fishing at
Yep, everyone is right about Verizon verifying your employer. But once you get the discount, you can probably keep it even if you leave the employer.
Have you looked into Straight Talk prepaid plans through Walmart? I J. canceled my Verizon service (still too expensive even with my husband's employee discount) and started using Straight Talk. I was able to keep my old phone number. If you have a web enabled phone (but not a smart phone) you can get 1000 minutes, 1000 texts, and a decent amount of mobile web time for only $30/month (also add about $3 for tax and 911 fees). If you have a smart phone, you can have unlimited talk, text, and web for $45/month. That is way better than what Verizon offers if you have a 2 year contract with them.
I'm not sure if you can use your existing phone or if you have to buy a new phone to use this service. You can buy a decent Straight Talk smart phone for about $180. Certain phones are affiliated with specific companies. If you buy a CDMA phone, you are using the Verizon network. This was very important to M. because they have the fewest dropped calls in my area.
You should go to the Walmart website to read reviews on their prepaid phones and prepaid phone service. I know all wireless companies offer affordable prepaid phones and plans now. You can see what is out there J. by going to the electronics aisle at Target or Walmart.
Good luck to you! I hope you find a way to save some money and don't go to hell :-)
When I told Verizon my employer, they J. set up the discount. I don't think they actually checked. I know that when I lost my job at a previous employer, Verizon kept giving M. the discount for over a yr until I called and told them I changed. You might be able to get a discount if you belong to a group. A friend of mine (former friend) got a discount of 10% when she told them sh ebelonged to some club or group thing.
I wish Obama would put free cell phone service in Obamacare, who knows maybe it's in there. Yay free cell phone service & birth control.
Yes, I do. But I had to provide my company email to do so. Now, when I switched companies, they didn't take my discount away or check. So once you're in, you're in!
My husband gets a discount through AT&T. They Calder his HRand verified his employment
Yes, I do get a discount for my Verizon cell phones. I also had to produce my work badge when I set the account up...
