That is part of the service. And it evens out with all the other people who don't go in to get their eye glasses adjusted :) Like me.
Hi, Mamas--
I have a seven-year-old son who wears glasses and is pretty hard on them. At least once every couple of months his glasses get bent out of shape from rough play and they need to be adjusted. Since I'm always at Costco, I started stopping by their optical desk and asking the optician there to do the adjustments. They have always been really helpful and do a great job, but when I ask, "So, what do I owe you?" they always say nothing, that eyeglasses adjusting is just a service Costco provides.
I want to be a classy lady and not a cheapskate, and I know what it's like to live off tips, but I don't want to offend a salaried professional. . . so do I tip for this service? Any optical shop employees out there who can steer me right? Thanks so much!

Don't ever tip a Costco Employee. They would be endangered of losing their job. I've been a Costco employee for almost 10 years and have seen many people fired for acccepting a tip. The employees make a very good wage, and they are always at your service. I would suggest putting in a nice comment in the comment box usually by the food court. If you don't see one there, hand deliver one to the warehouse manager or supervisor. You are very sweet to consider compensation.

No, but you might put in a good word for his or her manager. At my optometrist's office there was one tech who wouldn't even try to fix my glasses once, saying I had to get new frames. I went back later and the other tech repaired them. I made sure to let the doctor know how much I appreciated her.

I've never worked at Costco, but I've worked at a couple different retail stores, and we were specifically told that we are not allowed to accept tips. And if the guest keeps saying to take it, to take it and then give it to the manager. Some stores put that towards a store party or when we worked at babies r us, they put it towards March of Dimes. Often times if the manager was told of how good I was doing, I'd get a treat or a $5 gift card.
Wow, you are lucky. We have to get our adjusted about every two weeks. I have never tiped them.
No.....nice thought though!
Costco? No. It's really nice of you to think about it, but tipping at Costco would be weird.
