My husband ,our twins (will be three at time of travel) and I are planning a Disney Vacation for next April. We are also bringing along my parents . We are leaning toward the Wilderness Resort . Has anyone stayed there? We were thinking of doing the Club level , I think it's called Deluxe Room , has one bedroom with two queens and a separate sitting room with pull out sofa. You are given access to a Vip type room with this one.Or there is a Villa which has two bedrooms and baths kitchen etc.The other option is two standard rooms but I wouldn't think that would be comforatable with the kids sleeping early and my husband and I couldn't watch tv or read or anything.Has anyone stayed in this resort? I think it's the most convenient for us and has alot for our kids to do. Any tips with the kids at disney would be appreciated:) Thank you!

What can I do next?

I love going to Disney! I have never stayed at the Wilderness but I have a friend who loves that location - don't know what room they would stay in but just knowing our personal family vacation, I would opt for the (semi) privacy. It is also very nice that you are staying on property and are able to take advantage of the early morning/late night extra hours that are only offered to guests on property. Just keep in mind, the time of year that you are going in could be (very) high time! With Easter falling on April 12th and the Greek Orthodox Easter on April 19th and the many Spring Breaks....weather-wise it's lovely but many crowds! Been there-done that! You're children will have a great time-remember to book your "princess" breakfast (Magic Kingdom/Castle) 60 days in advance, if you want that - and it REALLY is 60 days. At 6 am in IL you will need to start to call -for 60 days in advance. It will fill up in less than 30 minutes. The Crystal Palace (Magic Kingdom) is not as concerning -check on when they suggest you call - it's a character bkft and a wonderful one at that! Winnie the Pooh and friends are all there, plus some. Good way to get your autographs out of the way - without standing in line. (Yep...your kids will get sucked in to getting character autographs! It's fun for a while but then you find yourself standing in, yet, another line!) And, EPCOT is very cool! They have stuff for little kids, too. Kids start out making a mask and in every country they will be able to embellish it and you'll get the opportunity to enjoy EPCOT! Best advise....book a dinner at a restaurant in MGM who offers a FANTASMIC package. Easiest way to get good seats at Fantasmic without waiting in line or spending a ton for dinner. Have fun!

The wilderness is awesome!! I had been there twice and liked it so much, chose it for our honeymoon...i would however opt for the villa. Much more comfy w/kids, etc. Plus the kitchen is great. Can save some money by having at least one meal a day right in your villa. One more suggestion is get the ultimate disney guide 2008. You can get it right at the disney store. It is a great guide to the best things to do, see and ride....have a great time and enjoy!!!!

Hi,

I don't know much about the Wilderness Resort, but I have taken my kids, then 2 and 5 to Disney. They were way to young to enjoy it and the 2 year old didn't remember any of it. It is hot and crowded and all of you will be miserable. The weather in Florida in April is really hot! I went in October and it was super hot. Disney is so expensive and such a wonderful place - you may want to think about going when they are older. I know you want to take them right away, but believe me, it is not worth it. We took them when they were older and all of us had a blast!!!

A little about me: I am a SAHM with 17 and 14 year old boys.

I'm sorry i can't help you with Fort Wilderness, It does look really cool though. We were leaning toward staying there ourselves but we settled on Port Orleans. We are first timers going this September who have a family of five. I have a wonderful book suggestion that may help. It is called pass porter's guide to disney and i find it to be a wonderful resource aslo FYI Disney runs specials one of which is running in September. Free food for all which could save thousands of dollars. Hope this helps, have a great vacation.
