Hello - we are having a Disney Princess party for our daughter who will be 4 in a few weeks. 2 of her friends are 5 & 6 and 1/2 and are coming dressed up as princesses, and then we have 16 month old boy and 10 month old girl that will be coming/dressing up also. This is also a combined party with adult family/friends. Trying to think of fun games for the kids - trying to figure out what would be good for the 2 youngest involved also. I've come across pin the tiara on the princess and Ariel's treasure find so far. Any other ideas greatly appreciated! :)

Actually it sounds to me like you have this under control. For kids that little, keep it all short and sweet- 2 games is PLENTY IMO and leaves time for cake and possibly present opening with no chance for anyone to get cranky or tired. I wouldn't do more than what you've got planned already. Have fun!

Hi, My daughter had a princess party 2 years ago for her 3rd birthday. There were kids from infant to 12 years old. The kids all had a blast. We played hot potato but with an apple from snow white. pin the tiara on the princess which i had a picture blown up of my daughter as the princess. Found princess tiara material and cut it for the kids to pin on. Got princess paper and scrambled all the princesses names. They had to guess which was which. Princess pinata. I also took pretzels rods and dipped them in chocolate and then dipped in hot pink sprinkles for wands. Good luck!!!!

We did a princess party and my stepdaughter enjoyed being announced as a "Princess Birthday Girl" and then parading around the room.

I would suggest a pinata. They make them now where you don't hit them with a stick but instead you pull a string. One string opens the trap door and everyone takes turns picking a string and pulling it. This game doesn't involve skill, which would frustrate the younger ones. Little two-year olds can pull a string and would have fun!

I wouldn't suggest any other games. Maybe a craft like someone said. 3 is too few to play a real game. I bought plastic tiaras at Hobby Lobby and little jewel stickers and everyone decorated their own tiara. The stickers were better than anything with glue and cleaned up easy.

Have fun!

hi I am also going to have a princess party for my four year old and have come across these ideas. Making wands out of foam and foam stickers, gems, etc. They have it at michaels or online at birthdayinabox.com Also candy necklaces, use licorice and have them string on lifeavers, cherrios, freeze dance to princess songs is always fun too. Have a fun day and enjoy.

Try a simple craft. For my daughters bday I picked up foam door hangers and foam stickers (that did not require glue). They could make their own door sign for their bedroom at home. The girls loved doing that. Crafts are always a big hit because they can sit together and talk as well as do a project. Pick a craft that is easy and that won't require you to help them.

You can do a version of musical chairs call it musical thrones. And a version of hot potato. make a scepter and the kids have to pass it around and who ever has it in their hands leaves the circle until only one is left.

Hi A.,

My daughter has had several princess parties. At one, we played pin the glass slipper on Cinderella. It was actually a kit from the party store, but I'm sure you could improvise if you can't find it at the store. It was a poster of the Prince trying the put the glass slipper on Cinderella. We blind-folded the kids and gave them a slipper sticker to try and stick closest to Cinderella's foot. Have fun!

You could go get a few soft frogs and flying discs. Any $1 store will carry them. The discs are spaced apart as lily pads and the person that gets the most frogs on the lilypads wins an extra prize, but if you buy the same number of frogs as guests, everyone gets to take home a frog as a party goody. Even the youngest will enjoy tossing the softee.

Hi A.. I think if you have two games you have plenty. At age four all they really want to do is play together. Whatever games you do plan make them very SIMPLE and EASY. I ran a daycare for many years and tried having games for different occasions and many of them just were not interested so don;t make your self crazy over it. Musical chairs and pin the tail on the donkey (or princess) seemed to work well. As far as the little ones, don't bother with anything they are way to young. You may think about buying your daughter the game "pretty pretty princess" for her birthday gift. It would fit the occasion and the girls LOVE it. Good Luck

A.,

My son recently had a 4th birthday party with friends of varying ages as well--his theme was Batman but the games/activities could be made for Princess.

I made cutout sugar cookies of Bats, in your case you could get a crown cookie cutter or maybe there is a princess cutter available. All the kids were given edible food markers and small tubes of colored gel to decorate. This was a huge hit with all of them and the parents and they got to eat the decorated cookie too.

We have a bean bag game with animals on the holders for which you throw the bag through so I just enlarged some photos of the superheroes at Kinko's, laminated and taped them onto the boards. The kids thought they were cool and my son kept the cutout guys for himself afterward. Plus, bean bag toss is easy for kids of all ages.

You could probably get a princess poster or colorbook to use pictures from.

I had a princess tea for all of the girls in my daughters kindergarten class. We made fruitloop necklaces, drank apple juice in tea cups, I made tiny "tea sandwiches" cut into shapes with cookie cutters, decorated paper crowns with stickers and markers and gems, and we had a guessing jar. I used my china and had nice table cloths on them and waited on the little princesses hand and foot!

Especially since there is a wide range of ages- this is when non-competitive games really shine. I once had to entertain a group of 20 kids (before a movie in a gym)- we played :

Freeze-Dance - for the party you could call it the Wicked Witch stops the Princess Ball--{dance to music and stop when the music stops- have them dance like their favorite animal/ princess whatever- then stop in a princess pose, ect}

Shoe Swap- for your party you could call it -Cinderella Shoe Swap- everyone takes off their shoes and puts them in a pile in the center of a circle- Then chant something like "Cinderella, Cinderella find your glass slipper! then they find their shoes and slip 'em on.

Some more ideas on the website below- Just change the title of the games to something "Princess-e"
http://www.awesome-kid-birthday-parties.com/preschool-bir...

Just a tip -Don't ask them if they want to do the activity- Just get excited and tell them what they are doing next.
Have fun!!!!!!!!!!
