Hello Mamas! My daughter loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and I would like to take her to see the upcoming performance of Disney on Ice. Is it reasonable to expect her to sit during the performance at 19 months or am I setting myself up for a disaster?

Would love toy hear any similar experiences- thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Despite my son's high energy, even at an early age, he could sit through theatre performances. By the time he was 3 he had seen Lion King, on Broadway twice. At the amusement parks he will sit and watch every show from beginning to end. At age 4, I lied and said he was 6 and snuck him into "Into the Woods" on Broadway. Other kids I wouldn't even think of doing this with. I think it really depends on the child and level of interest.
Have fun,

I would wait until she is a little bit older. I believe that she would get the same pleasure at this age as she does watching it on television. We took our first daughter to the Wiggles concert when she was this age and she spent the whole time just watching it on the big screen.

Honestly, I think it is a waste of money to take kids to anything before the age of 2. I personally would not spend money taking my son anywhere except a zoo or similar place until he was 3 and I knew for sure he would appreciate it. There are so many inexpensive or even free things that kids love.

I took my son at 2 and he loved it (we sat in the first row), but was slightly distracted during the themes that he was not familiar with. My tips would be to rent the movies that the show will feature so she will know the characters and pay for the closest seats that you can get! If you do that, I think you will have a blast!

We recently went to Sesame Street Live (he is now 3) and he knew every character and we sat close and he did phenominal!

And, I have a very active, noncompliant kid, so if he can do it, I know your daughter will be fine! LOL! I say go for it!

She may not sit for the whole performance, but there are so many kids there, it's not that big of a deal. You won't feel like you're disturbing anyone. Go. It's worth it, even if you only see half of it. Have fun.

My daugther was 21 months when we took her to her first Disney on Ice. The show had 4 (I think 4) different themes and she sat through 2 of them really well, the other two whe was a litte distracted. I think alot of it was because we really didn't have a good view. If she likes Disney movies then I think she will be fine. I hope this kinda helps.

We took my son to his first Disney on Ice performance when he was 17 months old, and he loved it - he sat on our laps the whole time (even though we had to pay for a seat for him), and we brought plenty of snacks. But he didn't get fidgety and we didn't have to leave early.

I'm sure it depends on the temperment of the child, but I'd say even if you have to leave a bit early, she would still enjoy most of it.

We took our three year old to Disney on Ice and even at that age, it was hard to sit still for the whole thing. She did fine until the first intermission but then was constantly out of her seat. The good thing about these events, though, is that they are filled with families with young kids. So, if your child acts up, loses interests, runs around, it's not a big deal. If she's a low-key child to begin with, you may luck out. I think you just have to get your mindset that you're ready to leave if it doesn't work out. At the very least, you should make it through part of the performance.

We took my son when he was about 21 months old, and he did great! The one thing we did that I think helped A LOT was we sucked it up and paid extra for the closest seats we could find. He sat through the entire thing enthralled by all of it (which was great), but I don't know how he would have done had we been up higher and not "in the action". Good luck!

Our daughter was two when we first took her, she was a very energetic and attention-span-deficient child to say the least! It was hard to keep her seated, and we left early. I think if we had been up really close it would have been better. This year I took her at four years old, we sat really close, and it was very enjoyable for both of us. We chose to leave our two year old at home. Again, like someone else said, if she's not familiar with all the characters she may get bored more easily. Figure out which characters are going to be in it and read those books or show her movie clips of that character, may help her to recognize them and be more excited when she sees them!
