Discount Tickets to Walt Disney World in Florida

I know there are a TON of posts regarding Walt Disney World but I'm asking again anyway...my family of 4 will be going to WDW in October. We'll be in Orlando for 9 days and I'd like to get multiple day tickets to the Disney parks. I've done some research but am finding that 3 day multiple park tickets will cost use around $800 (AAA price). Is there any place else I can find discount tickets that are cheaper? We're going with friends (a family of 5) and would love to find cheaper tickets. There's so much to do in Orlando, I'd be ok with multiple day tickets to just Walt Disney World. Sea World is on the list too. Thanks mamas!

So What Happened?

Thanks for the suggestions and sharing your experiences. It's all very helpful. I did check the AAA prices and the prices on WDW.com and they were the same. Go figure! Anyway my husband works for Honeywell and I think I can get 5 days for the price of 3 but that's still a lot of $$$. We'll have to decide what's important to us and take it from there.

We're staying in a time share so our accomadations are taken care of.

Thanks for all the great responses...keep them coming. :-)

Hi. We went to Orlando this past June. I started planning at least 1 year in advance. I even put a post on Mamapedia, so you can look in the archives and see my answers on suggestions. There aren't any discount tickets. The best way is to go through a travel agent, they get wonderful deals. We got a 3-day hopper pass to Disney World which allowed us to go to any of the parks on the Disney World area. We saw Epcot and Animal Kingdom (I highly recommend Animal Kingdom). The travel agents will also give you great deals on hotels and car rental. We also got tickets for Universal. If you want to talk to me and have questions feel free to call. You should bring rain parkas (the cheap ponchos you can fold up). Because you never know when it will rain there and they seel the parkas for triple the cost. I recommend a travel agent that specializes in Disney World also.

Check with a travel agent. Have you looked on the WDW Internet site?

AAA always seems to be more expensive! We just got back from Hawaii and I saved so much money by doing it all myself instead of through AAA. If you are staying on property, you can get some discounts but unfortunately unless you are going with someone in the military, Disney is really expensive. We loved Sea World and Universal too. Plus there is Kennedy Space center which is an all day thing. When we went, we got a great deal cause my husband is in the Army Reserves. We spent 6 days in the parks and didn't get to see everything. We had a blast though. You don't really need park hopper tickets if you plan to spend a day in only one park but we did them and did a day and a half in each park. The more days you buy, the cheaper per day it gets but yes it goes up in price. Do not buy tickets with "time" left on them. Each ticket is attached to a finger print now at the turn stalls and you will waste your money. Make any dinner reservations as soon as possible because they book up fast. There is a great resource called passporter.com that I used to plan our trip. Have fun!

There are no real "discount" ticket to Disney. You may be able to find places with 5$ off (like triple A) but nothing significant. Sounds like AAA didn't quote you the total including taxes, because everywhere I looked, it's going to be closer to $900.

I live in Orlando and have annual passes to Disney....honestly, there is no such thing as a no strings attached discount Disney ticket. You can do time share tours and stuff like that but that's a total pain in the butt. The discount ticket places are all around here, they buy people's tickets that still have "time" left on them but honestly, I wouldn't trust most of these shady little huts and souvenier shops that are all over the place....and I LIVE here! Sorry, but you're probably just going to have to pay what Disney charges, it is an arm and a leg and of course you should only do it if you can truly afford it. Oh, and be prepared, since you are coming in October, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween will be taking place at Magic Kingdom...if you want your kids to enjoy that experience, you have to buy ANOTHER ticket that's about $55/person :-( Have fun, after all, Disney World is the happiest place on earth! LOL (please ignore the intended sarcasm...ha ha)

We went last year and in doing the research found that the AAA tickets were higher than the discount we got right from Disney. We stayed there and had the dining plan too so we got a package deal that they were running.

There are great websites like Deb's Unofficial Disney vacation and allears.com and mouseforless.com that has some good advise. You can start there.

If your there for 9 days they do have a 4 day pass. Also that seems a bit high for a basic 3 day pass. They probably told you with the adds. Tell them you do not want a park hopper(park hoppers let you jump from park to park). Are you staying in Disney? The cheapy hotels are nicer that cheapy outsiide of disney. Did they add the water park tell them you do not need the water park.. Seaworld was ok. Is anyone having a birthday you get a discount if its your bday.

first off, that is why we nixed it. my son was only 4 1/2. we will do disney and cripple ourselves financially when he will at least be able to remember it, tyvm! i was appalled. we did seaworld for 2 days instead (i think the passes - buy 1 day get one free - were about $70 per person?) and it was AWESOME. we still didn't see everything, but almost - and we could have if we had wanted to. but we chose to do some things for a S. time, instead lol. we had plenty of relaxed time and it wasn't crowded, or crazy, just perfect. had a blast. i would definitely do 2 days at seaworld.

one thing i was really surprised about was all the places that had "discount disney tickets" signs. i would almost say wait till you get down there, but that is a gamble. it seemed like every souvenir shop we passed had those signs. i don't have much advice but i can feel your pain. i was pretty disgusted and insulted by those prices as well. and we didn't go. there is a TON of stuff to do in orlando. i'm not suggesting boycotting disney (i know not everyone can do that lol...mine was little enough he didn't know the plan originally so when we changed it, he had no idea. and we've just been telling him, "next time we will go do disney." he was fine with that since he had so much fun at sea world, and doesn't really "get" what disney is all about, having never been there!) but honestly i just don't see how it can POSSIBLY live up to $800 worth of hype.

We go every year. There really aren't any sort of cheap discounts on tickets to Disney, but what I suggest is buying more days at the parks. For instance, it usually only costs another $20 a person to get a 5 day ticket versus a 3 day. So in essence, you are getting almost 2 days at the parks for free. That's about as good of a deal as you will get on Disney tickets.
