YOu don't. Even if the doctor tells you, it doesn't mean anything. With my first two, the day before I went into labor I had OB appts. (I was late with both). My doc. said I was not dialated, baby has not dropped or anything. Boom, that night I went into labor.......this happened twice. With my third, I was walking around 3 cm dialated for 3 weeks. Delivered 1 day before due date. You just don't know.

You can't. And something more interesting... how far dialated you are tells you NOTHING WHATSOEVER about when labor will begin. For some dumb reason, doctors like to tell you how far dialated you are, but it doesn't mean a thing. I know women who were a few cm dialated for several weeks before their due date and their babies were born "late". My Midwife never did a vaginal exam until I was in hardcore labor... I was 5 cm and was 10 cm only an hour and 20 minutes later. Not knowing how far dialated I was during my pregnancy helped me not worry, especially because I was on bedrest for a month due to premature labor signs.

I WALKED AROUND DIALATED 3 CM FOR 6 WEEKS AND THEY FINALLY HAD TO ENDUCE ME. SO DONT STRESS ON THE DIALATING PART UNTIL YOUR IN LABOR. JUST WORRY ABOUT CONTRACTIONS!!

You don't. The only way to know is to be checked. There isn't any feeling to let you know when you are dialating. You could see if your doctor would teach you how to check yourself, but it is hard to do and they don't like to check to much because it can risk infection.
