I am celebrating birthday of my daughters & invited people for dinner.I have 2 main dishes which includes, rice & soup with bread, these 2 are our traditional dishes along with 1 sweet dish & offcourse cake.I am wondering if that be enough dishes or if you have any more of the ideas or any short recipies you know which are easy to cook ,please let me know which is not very costly too.

Thank you so much in advance as I always get very useful answers from you.

Since you are doing rice and soup with bread, I would add a salad and call it a day! Just a nice salad with fresh veggies tossed with a light vinaigrette or ranch will go great with soup. Or you could make a sort of salad bar and the girls could add their own salad ingredients and dressing. Just have some lettuce, tomato, cucumber, olive, eggs, cheese--stuff like that all chopped up and in little bowls. If you want to add some meat to this dinner you could also have some ham, salami, or chicken chopped to add to the salads. Have fun!

I might do an appetizer they are always a crowd pleaser when people are stolling in. Did a great one last week if want: brown sausage and then crumble with ranch dressing and sharp cheese. Take wonton wrappers and fold in half put in small muffin pan then put in your stuffings. Put in oven for 15 min at 350. Man they were great and everyone said how pretty they were.

Another idea- instead of soup and salad, how about soup and sandwich? Have lunch meat ready and bread or do a grilled sandwich with cheese or cheese and meat or any other favorite sandwich ideas. You could skip the crackers, meat and cheese than.

I don't see any protein in your menu, unless the soup is a soup with either tons of legumes or tons of meat. To be honest, if I were a guest, I would probably leave your party still hungry. It would help to add a vegetable (as others suggest, salad would be fine) and to make sure the soup has protein or add protein to the menu (a three-bean salad would suffice, or else some other bean/lentil side dish--I'm suggesting beans because they are not expensive).

Have fun!
