Has anyone here lost weight using weight loss pills? And, do any of you drink protein shakes after working out to lose weight? What has your experience been?

What can I do next?

I have had a protein shake (Spiru-tein brand) for breakfast almost every day for about 15 years. I don't drink them to lose weight. I like the protein.

I suppose they could work for weight loss because they keep me from feeling hungry too soon, because they are high in protein and low in sugar. A lot of brands of shakes are very high in sugar, so read carefully.

Diet pills are quackery.
Protein shakes are largely unnecessary.

Calories in and calories out are what counts.
Make smart food choices and keep a food log.
Your calorie totals may shock you.

Best wishes-

Never used any kind of pill to lose weight.
I considered drinking protein shakes at one time (my husband drinks them sometimes as meal "additives"... when I make a meal that seems to light for him...like salads or something). But you have to be really careful.. Protein shakes are generally designed to boost your protein intake, not for weight loss. So they can have a LOT of calories in them. Especially if you mix the powder into anything besides water.

Herbalife shakes are awesome. They have 9 or 10 grams of protein, so it's not overly packed like most protein shakes. But they also have a personalized protein powder if you weight train or if your body needs more protein. They are chalked full of vitamins and minerals. I swear, one shake and you will feel the difference in your body!
They're a great part of a weight loss routine, and are so good and nutritious for you! I'm pregnant right now and have been having trouble eating and have been losing weight consistanty (scary when you're pregnant), so after talking to my doctor, she actually recommended me to have a shake for a snack because they're so good for you.
I wouldn't bother with the diet pills. They're usually a scam, or really bad for you :(

I would look for a consultant in your area. They have a whole program and lots of different products, meetings, and weight loss challenges (so fun!).
That and following a healthy diet and exercising regularly. There's no real "magic solution" to weight loss. It just takes consistency, and you have to make a lifestyle change and stay consistent! I wish you the best of luck! It will be so worth it in the end!

If you want to drink a shake, do something like SlimFast to lose weight. Victoria is right- those protein shakes aren't too good for losing weight.

I've never used diet pills, and probably never will. Either they don't work, or they have dangerous side effects (ones that were at one time thought safe ended up causing major heart damage).

As far as protein shakes, if your goal is to loose weight, I wouldn't. A gram of protein has exactly the same calories as a gram of sugar. You probably get enough protein from your regular diet. The shakes are intended for people who are focusing on building their muscles (which you want to do, some, since muscle burns more calories, but you don't need a shake for that kind of muscle building) or for serious athletes. Not for someone who's trying to lose weight and get in shape.

I have used the weight loss drug Phentermine under the care of my dr. It worked great, it really reduces your appetite and you barely think about food. It takes the weight off at a slower pace, which helps you maintain the weight loss. However once you are off of it your appetite returns so it's up to you to maintain, I lost about 30 lbs and have been able to keep it off.

I have used Shaklee's protein shakes for over 16 years. They are my favorite breakfast, especially before I go to teach an exercise class. They also have an after exercise drink for recovery. Shaklee supplements have been used by many olympian and professional athletes for decades.
When I turned 50, I gained a few pounds and used the Cinch shakes twice a day for 2 weeks along with the rest of the program. I lost 3.5 inches off my waist. That was 6 years ago and I have not gained it back. Their program causes fat lose with no muscle lose, so it doesn't destroy metabolism like products such as Slimfast. Until recently, sugar was the first ingredient listed on Slimfast.
