The egg white is the healthy part of the egg...I wouldn't do 3 egg YOLKS every day...I'm assuming he has a healthy, varied diet otherwise...I don't think that's bad...you don't get much with an egg white, quantity wise.
I generally feed my 3 year old, 3 egg whites every day. Once my friend told me that, it is not advisable to feed so many eggs every day. As eggs comes on the top of the food pyramid, she suggested me to reduce the quantity. I would like to do the best for my kid. I would like to know, what other moms has to say about this.
He is active kid almost all the time. He goes for swimming once a week. He also attends Gym once a week. He also enjoys cycling.

I believe the concern about too many eggs is because of the yolk. The yolk has chlosterol and too many may not be good. If you are doing the egg white, that is actually all protein. So it is not a bad thing at all.
If you are concerned talk to your doctor. Unless your friend is a pediatric nutritionist, I would take everything you hear with a grain of salt. Besides, isn't it the yolk that has all the bad stuff in it? and even that bad stuff they say isn't that bad?
I had a friend that told me that I absolutely HAD to buy special baby bottled water to make my son's formula. My doctor set me straight.

Why only the egg whites? Children and infants need the fat for their brain development. Granted you don't want to feed them a lot of junk fats like fast food places have, but you don't want to deny them all that wonderful nutrition a whole egg has. As long as your child does not have an egg allergy, you could get away with feed him 1 fully cooked whole egg each day. You cold make him scrambled eggs or hard boiled. The egg yolk not only has protein in it, but leutin and other vitamins that the whites don't have.
One egg a day is good! I have 2 kids and i make 3 eggs together for them. I think thats alot, but u can ask the doc their opioion.

I agree with your friend, 3 egg whites a day is too much for anyone at any age. It's true that eggs are a good source of protein, but you can overdo a good thing. One whole egg at a time, 5 times a week is a recommended balance. There is a small amount of cholestorol in the yoke, but the white contains lecithin that counteracts the yoke. I believe in whole foods.
Overdoing a food when they are young, even something nutritious, often leads to them despising the food as they get older. E.G, my daughter loved carrots as a toddler. I didn't think she overdid it until her hands, feet, and eyes turned yellow. She also enjoyed 1/2 a grapefruit everday, until it started showing up in her diaper, undigested. As she got older, she no longer liked these foods at all. Too much of a good thing, I guess.

Eggs are great and 3 egg whites a day is nothing to be concerned about(I would even include the yolks). My kids eat eggs all day- they love them and they are packed with protein and many other vital nutrients... and they haven't grown three extra toes because of it either. Call your doctor for reasurance but I wouldn't worry about it. At least it's not 3 candy bars a day or 3 bowls of ice cream. Your doing exactly what your suppose to be doing. And if your ever stuck, think back to what your mom did. Eggs and bread used to be staples- everyday- and it never caused irreversible harm. There's so much pressure these days to do everything exactly right and how everyone else says to do it. What happened to the days when your doctor's opinion and the opinion of the child's mother were the only opinions that mattered. Now we see the way someone else does something and we think our way must be wrong. I am sure you woudln't do intentional harm to you child and let's face it...It's just eggs!
egg whites are fine, it's the yolks that cause the cholesterol problem.

The egg is the perfect food and balanced by eating the whole egg. Giving him only the white is not very healthy.
Eating 1 egg a day hasn't hurt anyone.

You know of course the kids need whole proteins and fats, right?
The yolk makes the egg fit that description.
I would not be afraid to feed a three year old anything they will eat, and doesn't cause a problem. Be it known that he probably would not be able to eat 3 eggs daily if they were whole eggs.
I have not looked to see what others have said, but getting hold of a nutritionist or talking to the people at your local health food store may help you get some solid advice that will help you know what to do and what to say when people don't understand that you are doing the best for your child.

Although friends and family can mean well sometimes you need to smile, nod your head, and then keep on doing what feel right with your child. If he's got plenty of energy and is growing well then talk it over with your physician on this next visit.

Female Body builders and female fitness experts like to eat three egg whites for breakfast every morning.
The men four to six egg whites in the morning.
Dr Rey was eating six boiled eggs in the morning - I don't know if he still does.
These are people who train every day and such.
So for a three year old it seems a bit much.
Egg white is great food, don't get me wrong.
The only problem I see is how much?
I hope you skip a day as well.

I gave my daugther one egg white every third day.
Oat meal one morning with apples, home made pancakes with banana's the next morning, one egg with buttered toast the next morning and so fourth.
Maybe you need to mix it up.
Too much of anything is good for nothing.
There's a reason an egg comes packaged with a yolk. It's meant to be eaten! Foods that contain cholesterol do not make cholesterol. That's a myth. Cholesterol is formed when the body becomes acidic. It's actually a protection for the blood vessels and keeps them from cracking but if people keep on eating their bad acidic diet, it gets to be a problem. Nature works perfectly well and knows what it's doing. It will work to protect an organism as long as possible but at some point self-inflicted dietary mistakes will catch up to a person. This is not the fault of eggs. It's the fault of acidic food: too much sugar, meat, dairy, excessive processed grains and other chemicals that pass for food.
If you child is so active he certainly needs protein and eggs are a good source. Probably 2 a day would be plenty if he is also eating other sources of protein. For energy and health nothing beats fruits and veggies, as much as possible in a raw state. Children will often eat raw veggies but not cooked. Encourage that!
He is just a child, unless the rest of his diet if very high fat and there is a family history of high cholesterol it really is not anything to worry about. You could probably give him the white and yolk so you could cut it down to 2 a day. Young children need to protein for brain development. If you are worried, call your pedi. As long as you child is happy and does not appear to be ahving any problems, he likes what he is eating and has fruits and veggies too, I would not worry about it!
Eggs are considered one of the world's most perfect food. The whites are full of protein and zero fat, so I would say your son can eat a dozen egg whites a day if he wants as there is absolutely nothing harmful there. The yolk is also very nutritious as it contains very helpful Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids. No, you should not eat a large amount of egg yolks due to the fat, but they are a huge brain builder and they brain keeps growing so continually needs food.
We have chickens as pets and we love eggs. Although we don't eat them every day, when my kids eat eggs they each eat about 3 whole eggs each.
If you are truly concerned, talk to your pediatrician as I am sure they will tell you egg whites are harmless and good for you.
I do not see how 3 eggs whites a day can be bad . Egg yokes have all the fat and egg whites have all the protein. You might want to give him a yoke ones in a while since it has good omega 3 fats. My kids eat 1 egg yoke a day and 3 eggs whites as well

Talk to your pediatrician about numbers like this. You are only feeding him egg whites, which takes the egg down a bit on the food pyramid. You are giving him simply protein (and vitamins I believe, but don't quote me), not the fat & vitamins from the yolk sac.
Protein is going to help build muscle so he can play and swim and cycle all the time.

I just wanted to say to Dianna that there is no fat in egg whites. It is all in the yolk. The white is pure protein (about 3.5 grams protein in 1 large egg white).
i usually do 2 egg whites with 1 yolk. you are correct in your thinking, the yolk contains the cholesterol. the white, the protein. now at your childs age, you might want to mix it up and instead of doing 3 whites everyday, allow some yolk and alternate between days. your child doesnt need as much protein as an adult, and im sure you are giving other foods with protein.
its great that you are setting up good eating examples at this age. are childrens habits are developed when they are young. i would only suggest offering as much variety of healthy foods such as fruit and grains as well. the more variety anyone is fed, the better they will accept new foods. think about the types of foods which arent necessarily great tasting, rather a person develops a taste for it over time. you want him to accept as many foods as possible to have a well balanced diet.

Hi M., I agree that 3 egg whites are too much. I think you should vary the breakfast. How about toast, cereal, pancakes. You can add yogurt for some protein. French toast can be made with 1 egg. Good wishes, Grandma Mary
I would talk to my doc. I know when we introduced eggs to my daughter my pedi suggested not to give more then a certain amount of eggs each week. 3 egg whites a day is alot of eggs. There is alot of fat in eggs (even in the whites) and I don't think that 2 dozen eggs a week is reasonalbe. I'd talk to your doc.

If the eggs are his main source of protein, and you're giving him the eggs rather than meat at a couple of meals, then I think that's absolutely fine - and that you should add in a yolk, they need cholesterol for their growing brain.

I'm not an MD or a nutritionist, just a mom. So take my reply for what it is-just a regular person. I personally would not eat ANY food every day, nor woudl I serve my kids the same food everyday (except milk). Why not try to mix up the breakfast routine? Organic blueberry waffles, shredded wheat or other cereal, pancakes, freanch toast (all have eggs as ingredients but not a sole ingredient). ALSO why just the egg whites? I have NEVER heard of a child having high cholesterol, and if you're going with the "top of the food chain, nature intended" thing, I believe they mean the whole egg. Other suggestions: fruit smoothies (can add an egg if you're stuck on the egg thing) oatmeal, plain fruit, yougurt. There are tons of food options that are kid friendly and for protein, why not tofu or other options? Ultimatley you will do what you will do and it is entirely up to you what you feed your kids. As for other input, why not ask the peditrician? Good luck! BTW I LOVE eggs too :)
