Did Your Baby Crawl Before Sitting Up??

My 7 month old doesn't sit unsupported yet. She can for a few seconds but rolls off to the side. She rolls all over the place and I practice little baby pull ups to help strengthen her. Today she started pulling her kness under her like the beginning of crawling and rolled herself over to her bumbo seat and tryed to kind of pull herself up. I know they reach they're milestones in due time but I'm curious if any of your babies have crawled before sitting up. My other daughter was sitting unsupported before 7 months but didn't show any interest in trying to crawl or pull up till about 11 months and walked at 13 months. I supposedly never crawled and walked at 9 months from what my parents say. So i'm just interested in what you mama's have experianced. Thanks so much.

What can I do next?

My oldest crawled all over and pulled up to stand before she could sit up unsupported. All babies are different and do things in their own time.

My son crawled before he sat unsupported on his own. He has hit most of his milestones a little on the early side though. He rolled over at one month old. When I told the nurse at the doctor office, she said I must be mistaken because babies that young can't roll over. My son was doing a complete roll over at 2 1/2 months: back -tummy-back, and did it right in front of the same nurse during a check up. The nurse and doctor both stared in disbelief, and then couldn't stop saying "I can't believe it!" We are in Japan. Most Japanese babies are really round bodied. My son was a stick baby. He was scooting around at about 4 months, and crawling on his knees at 5 months. I tried to get him to sit up on the floor for me, and he would just plop over to one side and scoot (and later crawl) away. I finally saw him sit unsupported on our living room floor when he was 7 months old. I am guessing that he could have been able to sit much earlier than that, but he just preferred to move and explore. Your daughter might just prefer to move. As long as she is hitting milestones, I wouldn't worry. Go baby go!

My friend's son crawled before he sat up on his own. He did learn to sit up relatively soon afterward, but he definitely crawled first.

It is possible, but pretty unlikely that your daughter will actually crawl before sitting unsupported. She might roll around or do an "armyman" but not the traditional "cross-hatch" crawl. My son was like your daughter, sitting unsupported by 7 months, crawling at 10/11 months and walking at almost 14 months. Sounds like your younger daughter is in the normal range though.

I never crawled. My mom said I scooted around on my back and she had to get me a little pillow to keep me from rubbing the hair off the back of my head. My oldest son was just like you. Went straight to walking at 9-10 months. If she doesn't start sitting soon, you may wan to get an eval from an Early Childhood Intervention program in your area. It will be free to you and ease your concern.

Hi! My son, the perfectionist, never crawled. He was 11 months and stood up one day and ran across the room. To this day (18) he still won't do anything until he has studied it and is sure he can do it fabulously.

Both of my twins did this! They crawled at seven months, then sat up about two weeks later. One walked at nine months, the other at ten months. Now my daughter started sitting at 5.5 months and started crawling two days later.

As you know, kids do things in their own time. It's probably more common for kids to walk without crawling though than it is to crawl without being ABLE to sit unsupported. Kids who walk first figure it out and do it, but if you put them on their hands and knees, they wouldn't topple over. I think you probably need to core strength it takes to sit unsupported in order to crawl (that doesn't mean she has to LIKE sitting, but she probably needst o be strong enough to do it) KWIM?

Your little girl is perfect, she'll do what she's going to do when she's going to do it. Enjoy her :)
