Don't panic. Babies are honest eaters and know what they need. It's a growth spurt. She may need extra sleep, also.
I know I should be happy she's eating so well, but she always eats 4 1/2 oz she just ate 7oz! Is this a growth spirt? Since this wasn't just a gradual increase of consumption...she just wanted more out of no where!
Thank you! I already feel calmer. I love this site and you ladies. You are all so good at helping panicky moms like myself feel more at ease. I feel so at home here! Love you ladies and your help! Thank you!

I used to feed on demand = happy chubby babies :) and the occasional projectile vomit. I second the auto shut-off valve...
Congrats on your teeny tiny baby. I loved 6 weeks :)
Nope, there is no way to overfeed a baby. If she does eat too much, it will come back and cover everything that you are wearing!
Unless you have a tube down her nose/throat OR she has an *incrediably rare* disorder (so rare most doctors practice their whole lives and never see it in person/ only read about it in school. THAT rare. Only 5 or 6 in the world).... it's impossible to overfeed an infant.
And... if it makes you feel any better... from 6weeks -10mo my son at 20oz per feeding.
He was one end of the bellcurve. Babies who only eat 1-3oz are on the other. MOST eat 6-12oz per feeding.
Luckily for us, babies have an automatic shut off valve. They stop eating when they are full!
There's a major growth spurt at 6 weeks that lasts a few to several days. She's going to want to eat more and more frequently and her sleep is likely to be disrupted. Just burp her well and hold her up for a little while after she eats to reduce the likelihood she'll spit up.
Babies have a growth spurt at 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months. They will naturally want to eat every 2 hours because in nature the mother's body knows to make more breast milk when stimulated every 2 hours for a 48 to 72 hour period. It's totally natural. As long as you don't keep offering the bottle after the baby has pushed it away you are golden. The reason why bottle fed babies are usually larger than breast fed babies is because we think babies need to eat a certain amount, and if they don't we worry, so we keep offering the bottle. However, a baby knows when they are full and as long as you trust your child's body language and signs then you won't over feed or under feed.
Congrats on your new little one!
