The only thing I have used on my two kids is the Gold Bond Medicated Powder. My son never had a diaper rash and my daughter has had on a rare occasion a red bottom. It is located in the baby section with the powders.

Hi R.,
Have you tried the Arbonne ABC line? I had a new customer call me today telling me about her new 5 week old baby who had a rash problem. Her sister-in-law let her try the Arbonne Baby Care Herbal Diaper Rash Cream. She said that it was the first thing that helped- she ordered two. Let me know if you would like to try a sample.

I'd try something with a high percentage of zinc oxide- (like 10-40%)- that will help soothe it until you can identify if it is a yeast infection- (if so, we learned we can only put the med. for that on 2x a day, supplementing with the high zinc oxide stuff in between). As a preventative measure, Aquaphor works great too. Good luck!

Only thing that worked for me is a combination of a zinc oxide based diaper cream (desitin, for example) paired with "air time" - basically having the baby go diaperless for as long as makes sense each day until it clears up. Usually, I would put a waterproof pad under the sheet of the pack and play and let the baby play in there. It has worked with both of my kids.

If antibiotics are the cause, yogurt also helps. However, my kids also got bad diaper rashes with teething too...

Sounds like a yeast infection,
You should be using NYSTATIN cream at every diaper change,
be very generous with it, and make sure if she wets use a dry paper towel and pat it dry, then re apply the cream,

I had a diffrent experience, My son was allergic to the fibers inside hte diaper, so i switched to G diapers
http://www.gdiapers.com/

these are great, they are cloth diapers, but with disposable inserts, and I use a cloth prefold inside

Its just as easy as a regular diaper, CHEAPER in the long run, and hypoallergenic so no diaper rash,

I really suggest these diapers for sensitive BUMS

M

BUTTPASTE is great too, and use a wet paper towel to clean the bum not a wipe.

Definitely talk to your pediatrician as my daughter used to get bad diaper rashes as well(bright red with pimple like bumps) and our Pedi prescribed a nystatin cream that really helped. He also said I could purchase an over-the-counter EXTERNAL yeast infection cream like Gyne-Lotrimin but since our insurance covered the nystatin it was cheaper to go that way.

I swear by Buttpaste...once we switched from Balmex my daughter's rashes became much less severe and fewer in number. I also found that when she wore store brand diapers the rashes occurred a lot more frequently than if we purchased Luvs, Pampers or Huggies. It is also a good idea, like another person suggested, to get a little air time. I also used a waterproof pad over a thick comforter on the floor and let her roll around naked. She loved it!

Good luck.

Hi,

I happen to have had a son with major diaper rashes quite frequently from birth until about 2 1/2. He was born with something that caused such rashes. So I am pretty well versed when it comes to rashes. I tried everything.
Firstly, I would try and keep the bathing once a day(I like it at night b/c it is calming). When you give her a bath try letting her soak in AVEENO oatmeal. You can buy the packets at a local drugstore in the baby section.

If the rash is very bad and severe, use a wash cloth to wash her than take a blow dryer and make sure the area is very dry. Believe me I did this quite often and it worked. Then apply creme Balmex or something like that.

Have you change dyour diaper brand recently? You may want to think that could be an issue as well.
I had to use a creme called Ilex. You can only find it online or have your pharmacy order it for use. It is a hospital grade creme. It was a lifesaver for me but my son had major rashes

I am a 45 yr. old mom of 2 daughters ages 27 & 16. When my 16 yr. old was a baby she got a severe diaper rash and the only thing that cleared it up was corn starch! After you bath her put corn starch on her bottom and a thin coating on her diaper, it should clear up at least within a week.
Good luck, let me know if it worked for you.

If antibiotics are the cause it could be a yeast infection, I would call your doctor and see if you need a prescription. If that is not the problem I like desitin and lots of time with no diaper on. Also Aveeno lotions and oatmeal baths help my daughter out. Two baths a day might be drying her out as well.

It could very well be a yeast infection. Call the pediatrician's office and they can call in a prescription oitment. We were always prescribed a hydrocortisone/nystatin combo cream that worked in a matter of hours.

Untill it is gone do not use baby wipes. Use a wash cloth and water and have baby soak in a warm tub.

R.,
I would check with your pediatrician, but it could be a yeast or strep infection. My 5 year old daughter used to get it when she was an infant. As far as lotions I would highly recommend Triple Paste. It is on the expensive side, but it works great. Also, my 9 month old had a diper rash when she was about 7 months old and I new it was because of her antibiotics, I gave her YoBaby yogurt. She already had the yogurt as part of her diet every 2-3 days, but when the rash started I gave her the yogurt everyday and within 3 days the rash was gone. good Luck

I was also going to suggest the yobaby yogurt ... if it is a yeast infection it will help.

I also have one son that gets worse diaper rash from ointments, I use Poweder with corn starch and it works wonders. I think you can put just straight corn starch as well.

Make sure she is very dry when you are done washing her. It will help keep the moisture out .. also change her more frequently.

Hi R.!

I would totally recommend Arbonne's diaper cream! Their whole baby line is amazing, formulated with ONLY pure, safe, and beneficial ingredients & I see you are looking how to best provide healthy solution for your baby! Arbonne products are the way to go - only botanically based without those harsh chemicals, dyes, or fragrances.
Unlike petroleum jelly or baby oil AKA Mineral Oil (cheap filler $1 gallon) - which is a occuslive and creates a barrier on the skin (largest organ on our bodies) not allowing anything to penetrate in or out eventually resulting in damage- Arbonne ONLY uses essential oils ($300 a gallon) in all of their products.
If you would like a sample I would be happy to mail you one! My email is ____@____.com

:) Good Luck!
