I need a good diaper rash remedy. My 8 month old has her first serious diaper rash (I have no idea where it came from). She woke up at 1:00 this morning crying with a dirty diaper. I changed it and she went back to sleep then woke up at 7:00 with the worst diaper rash I've ever seen. It even has little blisters!!! Please give me your proven solutions. I've been washing the area with plain water and soft washcloths and I've let her go without a diaper a few times today to air it all out. Then I've applied diaper rash cream. It doesn't look any better than this morning.
Thank You Everyone!
I tried numerous things and the rash is looking much better now. It actually finally started healing when I put a tiny bit of Monistat on it, and then covered it with Desitin. I also put her in a few baking soda baths to soak it. I think it must have been a little viral rash rather than a typical diaper rash. She was just getting over her first realy runny nose. I appreciate everyone's advice!!!

Try the putting A&D ointment on first then put something like Balmex on her bottom. Also, try Boudreaux's butt paste, I found that to be extremely effective. If that doesn't work, you may need to take her to her pediatrician so they can prescribe something a little bit stronger for her!!
Good luck, A. and I hope Isabella starts feeling better soon!!

My ped. suggested cleansing the skin with a warm soft wash cloth (never use wipes) then use the plain milk of magnesia and dab on with a cotton ball. Allow to dry and then put desitin on top. If the rash is caused by the acid in the stool (diahrea) then the acid cannot eat through the milk of magnesia. It acts as a protectant for the skin! Works great!

Well A. My daughter is 8 months also and she recently had a bad diaper rash, a friend of mine gave me some lotion called renew, I was desperate because I tried everything from cornstarch, A&D ointment, even desitin but nothing else worked, So I tried the Renew.... The next day I saw a diiference that you wouldnt even believe.. I mean her area was still discolored but she had no more discoloration.... I now work for that company (from home) because the way that I feel is if something could work so fast,be so inexpensive and not give her a even worst rash then this is something that I would want to share with everyone...Please contact me ____@____.com so that I can give you some more information about that wonderful lotion(which also cleared her excema)Looking forward to hearing from you!!!!

A.--at your local farmers co-op you can find something called bag balm. It us used for udders on cows and various things. I used it when my son was born and it seemed to help. I would apply it at each diaper change even when the rash was gone just for skin protection. Also if you can find peri-care ointment (they use this for elderly persons that have to wear diapers) that is also good. You may want to take her to the doctor and make sure it is diaper rash and not a type of yeast infection. My friends little girl had a problem with yeast several years ago. The doctor gave her cream but her mom told her to try plain yogurt and smear it on her bottom and that seemed to work. I liked this idea because I dont like to use medicine if I can find something natural that works.. And also use plain cornstarch instead of powder. You may check your natural food stores and see what they might have. Good luck.

My daughter used to get rashes like that as well. After trying all you did, we also used Dr. Smith's diaper rash cream. It works!!! We still use it as routine maintainance at night. She rarely ever has a diaper rash, but if she does we slather it on with each change and it is gone within 24 hours. It is hard to find and a little pricey, but well worth it!! I have found it at Publix and Walgreens. Good Luck!

Hey Anne~
My son is in his teething phase and had such a bad diaper rash, he would refuse to sit down. I wash his bottom with warm water and let him air dry. I used Boudreaux's Butt Paste(from Wal-Mart) which I think works better than all the other diaper rash ointments and I also put baby powder to catch any added moisture. Hope this helps.

I have twin boys that are going to be three in Dec.
We have tried several things the ones that worked the best are
a cream called Triple Cream. It used to be in the pharmacy but I found it in the baby section at super walmart as well.
Also we recently tried Johnson's and Johnson's no more rash.
The trick is to change her very often while she has a rash and keep putting it on. We have also tried a remedy that my mother-in-law suggested. Take plain corn starch that you buy at the grocery and brown it in a pan. Then use either ann empty powder container or use a jar or can and poke wholes in it to create your own shaker. This worked on my boys' worst diaper rash.
Hang in there I know how frustrating it is to not be able to soothe all of your little one's pains.

The best solution for rashes is Tahitian Noni Juice. Pour Tahitian Noni Juice on a clean cloth and wipe the area after each drying and cleaning. Also, you may pour Tahitian Noni Juice into the pamper and allow it to stay in place while your child play. After each changing, add Tahitian Noni Juice to the new diaper. There are actually two things I used for both of my kids when they were babies and had bad diaper rashes. The first was I was told to use Cherry flavored Mylanta liquid and it did work on my son believe it or not for a couple of days and his cleared up and the other was a perscription ointment called Nystatin Cream and this stuff is a miracle!!! I used it for my daughter and it worked like a charm within 24 hours and every time she had any kind of signs of a severe sign of diaper rash I would use it and it never got any worse.

The key is to use a good barrier type paste that is thick, like boudreaux butt paste or happy hiney oint. (this one you have to get from pediatrician). When you change the diaper do not take off all of the ointment just pat the bottom to remove the stool this maintains the protective barrier. If the blisters are not lessening within a few days it may be a yeast type rash which requires a script from the doctor. Otherwise you are doing everything right. Remember to limit foods in the diet that increase liquid stools too, like juices.

They have a whole line of baby skin care products that work wonders on your baby's skin. If you would like to try some samples I can either mail some out to you or bring them by your house (depending on where you live) and your baby's little tushy will be cleared up in no time!

My name is A.. I have a 3yr old, and when she used to get diaper rashes I used an ointment called Flanders and within 2 days the rash would be gone. She didn't get that many rashes, but when she did get one that was the only thing I would use. One other thing is as long as she has the rash, don't try to clean all the ointment off when changing diaper, only pat clean or rub softly. Wiping too hard might worsen rash or peel skin since she has blisters.

Well my daughter has very sensitive skin she can get diaper rashes easily. I take a very very warm wash cloth and hold it to her bottom. It makes her feel so much better. You may have to re-wet it a few times. It helps to calm the pain down. Then I make sure that her bottom is completely dry before I apply the diaper rash cream. I use Desitin Original. It has a funny smell but you will get used to it. It is so thick that a little goes a long way. Make sure you put some on every time you change her diaper and make sure to change it pretty often while she has the rash. I also just put a little bit of the cream on her each time I change her diaper anyway because it also helps to prevent rashes from even starting.
But she had a really bad rash in the past and it blistered up. Her doctor told me to apply an anti-fungal cream called Lotrimin (it's near the pharmacy) and I applied that before I put the Desitin on. I hope that helps.

I had the same problem with my son. He had diaper rash and it kept getiing worse. It might be the brand of diaper rash ointment you're using. My son is allergic to desitin and it makes his worse, and it blisters up. But then it might be yeast based. For over the counter, i use a&d or resinol (ask for it from the pharmicist). I also have used nystatin that the dr. prescribed. You can probably just call her dr. and they will call it in.

We've been using it off and on since he was about 3 months and he's almost 2. Just slather it all over her little bottom and make sure she stays dry. Because she has blisters, I suspect that the rash is yeast- related. Your doctor can perscribe an anti-yeast cream that should clear it right up.

It could be a yeast infection which would require the care of a doctor's prescription. You may want to try using a cotton ball soaked in Mylanta or Maalox (the stomach antacids). My doc recommends using that then applying your favorite cream over it. Works great for my son.
Also, try making your own wipes. We use 2 tbsp. creamy baby oil, 2 tbsp. baby wash, and 2 cups warm water. Mix very well, pour over half of one Bounty roll of paper towels. Store in airtight container. Once thoroughly wet (about 4 hours) remove inner cardboard roll and take "wipe" out from the middle. My son hasn't had a diaper rash since we started making our own wipes.

Try a baking soda sitz-bath. Just run a luke-warm bath as you usually would (minus the soap), and add a couple of tablespoons of baking soda as it's running. You can fill up just a few inches (enough to soak her bottom) or a full bath (it won't hurt her skin). This was recommended to me by a nurse and I have had tremendous luck with it!
As for the rash itself, the sudden onset of blisters really sounds like an allergic reaction.... anything new (or relatively new) in the diet?
Good luck!

I agree that Dr. Guider's butt cream is the best! My daughter has a really sensitive bottom and got quite a few rashes complete with blisters, especially with loose stools. Dr. Guider's clears it up in no time. If that doesn't work, you might try mixing a little Lotrimin cream in with it. She might have a yeast infection.
