Have you tried changing diaper brands. My children can only wear huggies or they get rashes. I hope that helps.

My daughter is 13 months old and get diaper rash ALL the time. We change her constantly and put diaper rash cream on her every time we change her trying to make sure she is not sitting in a wet or messy diaper. Yesterday she came home and it was the worst i had ever seen it. She couldnt even get in the bath tub because the water hurt her. I let her run around the house with out a diaper on for a little while trying to let her air out and put cream on her before bed time. It was a little better this morning but still red.Any suggestions on how to keep her from getting diaper rash so much
Thank you all so much for all the help. We have done the things that all of you have told me about and the rash is much better. I found out that her grandmother who keeps her everyday while we are at work has changed diapers from what we use at home so she has gone and got huggies that is what we have use since she was born i am using the butt paste now its great and she has a doctor appt soon for a check up and i'm going to ask about the yeast infection. once again thanks for all the help the rash is much better.

Hello Nicloe!
My daughter is almost 2 and she still has a very sensitive bottom. I would also try changing diapers. The diaper that works best with Emily is "White Cloud" from walmart. I have also just found a new diaper rash medicine that works wonders. I found it at some select few Walmart's. It is called Triple Butt Paste. People also swear by that Butt Paste..I think..Boudreaux's Butt Paste or something like that. The triple butt paste is abut $7.50 a tub but if you are in as much need as I was it is worth it. I think it has a mother and daughter on the front of the box.. If you are interested and can't find it email me back and I will find out the exact name of it. Hope this helps

I had the same problem at one time with my daughter. We finally came to realize that it was the diapers. We changed brands and the problem was solved. No going back for us!
Have you tried different creams? I have found that Dr Bourdeaux's Butt Paste is the best! (sold anywhere in the baby section)
Also- are you sure its just a diaper rash? Could be a yeast infection.
Good luck!
Does your daughter drink or eat a lot of fruit or juices? Anything with acid and sugar, even diluted, can cause severe diaper rashes. This is my only suggestion because I have a friend who is into alternate diets for her children. One of the kids had this problem and they linked it back to juice. Stick with milk or water.
My oldest son was the same way. He ended up being allergic to the brand of daipers we were using. They were the same ones we used since was born. His doctor told us that they can develop new allergys as they get older. He was fine after we switched to a different brand.
Diaper rash cream never worked for my 10 month old...the ONLY thing that worked was cornstarch or powder with cornstarch in it. Helps keep them dry. Its worth a try!
Have you tried changing your diaper brand. Some babies are more sensitive to certain brands. My little boy could wear anything but my girl can only wear Luvs, thankfully they are the cheap diapers.
Just a thought..but, could your daughter be allergic to the diapers your using. I had somewhat of the same issue with my daughter..and found out there was only one brand of diaper we could use or she would brake out in a rash.
Sometimes repeated diaper rash is a sign of allergies to the materials in the daiper. have you tried changing the brand?
One word....Aquaphor!!!!!!! Can't say enough good things about it! :)
Umm hey N., my daughter who is 21 months has/had the same problem, She get rashes all the time and they get bad sometimes! The only thin that truely helped was to watch her juice and acidic fruit intake!!! her not eating so much of those usually clears it up! Also Hers can sometimes be yest rashes ans it doesnt help to but the regular butt cream on her! so i had to get a perscription for somthing called nystatin...it works wonders!!! One last thing if its high on her vagina instead of her butt try to make sure she doesnt scratch it...that will make it worse!!! Good luck though!!
My sister who is an RN turned me onto a wonderful commination. You take one tub of Aquaphor & 1 bottle of plain malox and mix them together, you will need another container when you go to put it back in but this formula works on everything but yeast infections. It is wonderful!
Hi N.,
I notice that you work full time and go to school part-time...good for you! That is awesome, and I don't know how you do it.
I also noticed that you said 'Yesterday she came home and it was the worst I had ever seen'. Was she at a daycare during the day?
If so, I would really be concerned that perhaps the daycare isn't changing her immediately when she wets or soils her diaper. You may want to have a talk to the people there, and insist that they change her right away when she is wet or poopy. Otherwise, take her to a different daycare. Sounds extreme, but this IS your child, and while a diaper rash doesn't seem like a big deal, a rash like your daughter's can be very painful and irritating, and it isn't good for her.
Also, you may want to take her to her pediatrician, and ask for a prescription-strength rash cream. I had to do that for my daughter when she was a baby, she got a really bad rash that wouldn't go away, even though I was constantly changing her. I got the prescription, and it cleared up quickly.
It could also be possible that she has a yeast infection. These can make her skin look like bright red, almost raw beef in areas. Have her checked, and don't worry, it doesn't indicate something sexual. This type of infection is very common after the use of antibiotics. Has she been on antibiotics lately?
Another possibly cause is that the diapers being used are too small. Diaper rash is often caused by friction of the diaper against wet skin. If the diaper is too small, this is only going to make it worse. If the diaper is at all tight, please consider going up a size.
just sprinkle plain cornstarch on it. baby pwoder has perfume so it burns them but corn starch works great my kids use to get diaper rash so bad that it bled and i used the cornstarch and it was gone in 2 days.
Try changing the brand of diapers you are using. Many times babies get a rash from certain brands.
I know this sounds crazy, but my 8 year old was the same way when she was a baby. I'd drop her off at daycare in the morning and she's be raw when I came to pick her up. The daycare documented each time she was changed so it wasn't their fault, she just has really sensitive skin to this day. The only thing that I could find that cured her diaper rash was bactine spray, the kind you get in the 1st aid section in the store. It comes in a squeeze bottle. That didn't keep her from getting the rash but it cured it really quickly. I could put it on at night and she would wake up in the morning all clear. Of course, as with anything, you might want to talk to your pediatrician before using it.
Hi N.,
You didn't mention what diaper rash cream you're using, but if you haven't already, I would look for one with the highest amount of zinc oxide. I use Desitin night relief...I think it's 10 percent. I have been very fortunate in that my son has only had 2 cases similar to the one you described. The doctor recommended applying extremely large amounts of vaseline at each diaper change. You need to apply it so thickly that if you were to stick your finger into it, it would go at least to the first bend in your finger. This keeps anything that comes out of her from staying in contact with her skin. The couple of times I mentioned had to be treated with a prescription of Nistatin. (I'm not sure that's the correct spelling.) After a certain point, diaper rash turns into a bacterial issue. Only your pediatrician will be able to diagnose and prescribe, but it's worth them having a look. I hope this helps you and Cassidy both. Best wishes, A.

This rash may be a yeast infection, not diaper rash. When my now 7 year old daughter was about the same age, we thought she constantly had diaper rash. We tried every different cream on the market, changed diapers regularly, etc and still couldn't get rid of the rash. When we finally took her to the pediatrician for it, it turned out to be a yeast infection. One of the things she suggested we do to help prevent reoccurance was to bathe our daughter in an antibacterial dish soap. It worked then and has worked since then. Our daughter has always been prone to "redness" in that area and when it happens, we just fix a bubble bath with the anti bacterial stuff and it clears right up. Hope this helps.

Mine only ever got diaper rash when using Luvs (which I switched from) or when they were taking antibiotics.
I would always give them yobaby yogurt. That always helped clear them up.
We had a similar problem - our doctor was able to prescribe a cream that worked wonders (cleared up within a day or two). The cream was only about $4 or $5 and was able to do what over the counter creams could not. You may want to contact your pediatrician.
It could be more than a typical diaper rash. If it's little bitty bumps everywhere, it could be a yeast infection. The best diaper rash cream we've found is the Buttpaste. It's really great. If it's a yeast infection or something else, it won't go away with just rash cream. Get Lotrimin (for athletes foot) or vagisil cream and try that. If it still doesn't start to go away after a full day or two, take her to the dr.
yes i mite can help..after her bath try using Preparation H all over the red part for a couple days if that don't work try cornstarch like powerd.also Preparation H is good for any type of burns and sunburns..
I had the same problem with my son. I used resinol (ask for it at the counter at the pharmacy) for the rash and changed the brand of diapers I was using. For my son I had to use huggies . . . . there was something in the pampers that caused him to have a rash all the time. I hope this helps.
Try changing the brand of pampers. If she is wearing Huggies Brand switch to pamers and vice versa. Also, to get rid of diaper rash use equal parts of Milk of Magnesia and baking soda mixed together. It's messy and sounds weird but it does work. I've used it on my son who is now 24 and my daughter who is 5. I also had to switch their pampers. Good luck.
one of the worst diaper rashes my daughter ever got was when i tried the cheap diapers...we used luvs and they never bothered her...huggies broke her out just as bad...it may be the brand of diapers...
good luck!
I agree with all the other posts, switch diapers, let her run diaper free or at least in a cloth diaper a certain amout of time EVERY day. Put some baking soda in her bath occasionally too. I'm not sure what kind of rash cream you are using, but you may want to try Boudreaux Butt Paste (WalMart sells it).
good luck
Restating some things to try:
Different diapers
Different wipes
Lotrimen foot cream (clears it up fast)
Stay ahead of the rash w/Boudreuxs Buttpaste!
I took my 9month old to the doc. yesterday and the nurse told me to use peptobismol. She said to just put it on the area and blow it dry, you can use a blow dryer just not very close to her. then put the cream over the pepto and try that. it breaks down the acid before it can reach her bottom. and if pepto doesn't work try malox (liquid). i would definitely ask whom ever keeps her during the day not to feed her acidy foods and liquids for a while to get it all clear. juices tend to irritate it.
My baby tends to get diaper rashes pretty bad whenever she is on antibiotics. I have found the best thing is using the Triple Paste. It is pretty expensive for a small tube, but it definately works. Also, my mom mixes up a baking soda/cornstarch paste and puts it on her. It healed up one of her worst diaper rashes in only a few hours. Good luck!

My mother had the same problem with me when I was a baby. My problem: I had a high acid content in my urine. You child may be allergic to the diaper material. Try cloth diapers for a few days and see if that helps clear up the diaper rash. It is worth a try!
