Have you tried Boudroux (spelling?) butt paste? Also, when my son was really red, I would put just a little of the medicated baby powder on him. I know they say not to use powder but I thought that once in a while would help to dry things out.
I was wondering if anybody has an advice for a bad diaper rash. My daughter is 9 months old and has a bad diaper rash. It's been a while now and I tried everything, different creams, not using wipes, but water etc. Her pediatrician says to try to leave her with no diapers as long as possible, but it's just so hard. She is teethung and I think it's related to her diaper rash. Any advice? Thanks!
Thanks a lot ladies!
I got some ideas now that will hopefully help her with the rash.
Have a great day!

This going to sound strange but bag balm that is used on cows utters is great for diaper rash. It has many natural healing properties that are great for sore bottoms. A cows utters and bag are just a tender as a sore bottom when it get chaffed.
It comes in a square green can. I know it is available a Farm and Fleet and I know it is available at some drug stores. This link will show you what to look for and more able the product. http://www.bagbalm.com/
Told you it would sound strange.

Did you try Hyland's Diaper Ointment? It is a non-cram based for diaper rashes. Can be found at Whole Foods. Olive Oil too will work, just a little goes a long way. Also, is she eating anything that is too acidic? Sometimes if I let my daughter eat too much pineapple, she gets a little rash. Too much fruit can be too acidic and cause diaper rashes.
Yes, I agree, let her run around outside without a diaper, so if she messes, at least it will be outside and the sun is an excellent source of Vitamin D for her skin, just 15-min a day without sunscreen is sufficient and safe.
try using a combo of Desitin and A&D. If that doesn't work, try to put a little Vagisil twice a day on the outside of her. I have done both ofthe suggesstions and they work. Hope it helps you.

Having been a mom 3 times over and have pretty been through it all, I have come to find out that part is due to how their bodies react to teething and acidic foods play a big part in diaper rash. You can't stop the teething process (or the drooling!), but you can help by not using juices, or lots of fruit (just for a little bit).
When a baby's skin is sore, EVERYTHING you put on her will hurt and that hurts you both. You must take care in the products that you use to make sure they aren't adding to the problem at hand. There is a line of baby care that uses the most gentle and mildest ingredients that are pure and safe for tender and sensitive skin. It has a wash, diaper cream, lotion and even sunscreen that are all excellent! Make sure you don't use products with mineral oil or vaseline. When a diaper cream or lotion has these products, the good ingredients that are in them to help the skin don't get to penetrate through these large molecules. They literally just sit on top of the skin and do nothing. Hence, the cycle just continues. You need products without fragrances, dyes, and are pH correct. That's where you need to start. I am a health and wellness educator and have found over the years that what we put in and on our skin is vital to our overall health.
M., I would be happy to help you out and if you would like more information regarding these products that have helped me and my family's health, I will be glad to help you and yours out as well.
Parenting is a learning process for us all. I just happened to be older and just a little wiser now - you'll get there too.
Best to you and your family!

I've had the best experience with Beurdeux's Butt Paste. If that doesn't clear up the rash you might want to see your pediatrician because it could be a yeast infection.
My daughter had sever diaper rash to the point that her bottom was raw and extemely sensetive. The poor thing would cringe when she had a wet/yucky diaper.
Keep the area clean. Every time I changed her diaper I would wash her bottom with warm water and a tiny bit of head to toe baby wash. I made sure she was completely dry, I even used the blow dryer at times. Then I would put a thick layer of butt paste and baby powder. I changed her very frequently. I also soaked her bottom in Aveeno oatmeal bath about 2-3 times a day. I hope she feels better soon because diaper rashes are no fun for either of you. Good Luck!!!
My experience has been that when regular diaper creams don't work and it's a bad rash that lasts a long time (and it is a small circular red pattern) that it is usually a yeast rash. Try using an antifungal cream like you would use for athlete's foot. If it is yeast, it should clear it up in 2-4 days. I usually just get the generic Clotrimazole at Walgreens.
I know this sounds nuts, but use browned flour in the diaper (in addition to a good diaper cream). Take the flour and fry it in a frying pan until light brown. It takes just a few minutes. THen just sprinkle on the flour (cooled, of course) and pat gently. You can apply cream on top. It's cheap and really works!
Butt paste is the best. I just got some tonight, becaues my son who has autism and is 5 has a very bad rash and nothing was working. We even tried Neuosporin. Anyhow, I also bought this cornstarch type thing to sprinkle in his diaper too when I change him. Gosh, i wish I could get him potty trained. I really do. But, this stuff does work wonders. I love it. It is the best. If you are interested in the powder type stuff, let me know and I will let you know the name of it. I got it at Woodmans today with the butt paste and use both of them together.
