Hello all,
I'm pregnant with my 2nd child and would like to know if anyone has experience with the DEKOR Plus diaper disposal system. I had the diaper genie with my first child and did not like it, and this one seemed better because it has biodegradable refills and seems easier to use, but I don't know anyone that has had it, so would like to know your opinion on it and if you know of another brand that you may like.
Thank you!

My sister tried one type of diaper disposal system and I tried another, very briefly. I don't think any of those work. I hate a stinky room!

I ended up buying a small white covered trash can and put it on my screened in porch. I have a detached garage and a trash bin in alley or else I would have simply taken it downstairs and put it in the garage trash. It is not that hard and definitley leaves the room fresher!

i just had my second child after a 5 year peroid as well and i tried the Diaper Champ, it is easy to use, my 5 year old can do it, and it uses 13 gallon garbage bags, not some expensive refill system that youcant find anywhere lol. I love it so far. good luck and congrats

I've used the Dekor for all three of my children. I have found it to be very easy to use...hands free which I liked. It does have biodegradable refills and they do last for quite a long time. It does occasionally smell. I have not used any other system so I don't know if it smells any worse than any other brand. Good luck!

Hi,

Congratulations! I have not used the DEKOR Plus but instead use the Diaper Champ. I have used it for both of my daughters and in fact purchased a second one when my dog destroyed the first. We like it because we don't have to purchase any specific refills. They recommend using regular kitchen trashbags but my husband and I use grocery bags in it. It contains the smell of newborn diapers through about the time babies start on a lot of people food. Then we have found that the poop smell permeates through, but I don't know any diaper container that can really contain all those smells. Just 2 cents on another container.

We use the Dekor Plus system.

Pros:
*VERY easy to use!
*Biodegradable refills that last quite a while
*seems to hold quite a few diapers.

Cons:
*doesn't deal with odor as well as I'd like, especially when putting in a "new" diaper. the smell can be overwhelming. I put in one of those odor absorbing discs and it helps.
*My son is now 14 months old and he's figured out how to lift the lid, stick his hand in and pull diapers OUT! There is a lock but you have to unlock and relock it each time!! So, I don't use the lock b/c of that. If they were somewhat individually wrapped, that would help.

Overall, I don't regret choosing it, but am not totally in love with it either.

Hope that helps!!

I've gone through just about every diaper disposal system - I can't stand the smell of old dirty diapers and there is no way to avoid it because they are all plastic and absorb odors. I've tried every kind of liner, disinfectant spray, etc. and nothing helps. So I finally got rid of the diaper pail and just use the baby powder scented diaper trash bags. They can fit a couple diapers, and the scented bag really helps control odor. We just throw them in our regular trash and don't even notice a smell (plus the powder scent of the bag helps with the rest of the trash). Babies R Us has boxes of 250 bags for around $7.

I am not saying this to be snarky, because I also use disposable diapers some of the time. I am genuinely curious - what is the purpose of biodegradable refills when the diapers themselves don't biodegrade?

We've been really happy with our Diaper Champ, as well. I've found that the thicker kitchen bags contain the smell better than the thinner ones. And the smell is very minimal, nothing that Lysol doesn't take care of.

Girl, they all are a waiste of money. Use your Kroger bags and call it a day...LoL. All the money you keep spending on refills can go towards more diapers.

Did you use the old Diaper Genie or the new one? The old sausgae one was a pain, but the new one is much easier. You just have to push the diaper in the top hole.
Yes you still have to buy the refills, but so many people I know who have the other ones complain about the smell, especially when their chldren start earing solids. I have never had that problem with mine. Just an opinion, but definitely worth the refills, you can buy them for $5 at BJs, Costco etc.

We used the Diaper Dekor plus for both of our children. I thought it worked well. We still use it for a trashcan. The refills lasted forever.

I have it and I absolutely HATE IT! I was told by a sales person at Babies R Us that it is the best so I got it. She said they put a piece of smelley cheese in it for a month and you could never smell it. Well maybe if you don't have to continue to put diapers in it the smell would stay in, but I even doubt that. My little girl's room always smells like a dirty diaper. It is awful, awful awful! You might as well just by a cheap trash can with a lid on it at Walmart. Don't get it...

Hey, we just had our third baby, and for the first time got the diaper disposal. After reading various reviews we went with DiaperChamp, and it's great, no smell so far, easy to use, and you can use regular garbage bags, rather then expensive refills. Good luck!

I like the Diaper Champ because it doesn't use the wasteful (and expensive) refill bags at all! Any large shopping bag or kitchen trash bag fits.

I use the DEKOR Plus. I also chose this one because of its biodegradable bags. It's pretty easy to use (easier than Diaper Genie) & also has scented bags which helps cover up some stinkiness (of course, sometimes you just have to get the stinkier ones out of the room!)
I definitely recommend it.

We had one--It was ok. It was still a little smelly by the time it was full and my husband thought it was a little difficult to load. -He was the one who did the disposal- He said he would have prefered to just empty the trash can more often. I imagine it did contain more smell than just using your regular trash.
Don't know if that's helpful at all.... Good Luck :)

Get the Diaper Champ and use odor defense bags. It is my 3rd diaper disposal can and the only one I say is worth it. No costly refills and so simple there is nothing to break. They are all made of plastic so they all absorb odor so they all need to be emptied regularly and cleaned occasionally. I found a spray of lysol when changing the bag helps.

Unless you are using biodegradable diapers and composting them in your own compost pile, biodegradable bags are rather useless.

Heaven Scent Hygiene bags work awesome. Dispose of diapers anywhere, anytime when at home or on the go. Whenever you pile up a ton of diapers in any pail you will still have an odor. Try them, I think you will like them.
