Detangler for Almost 3 Year Old

I need a good detangler for the mornings since we do baths at night. I think she like digs and rubs her head into her pillow so that one side of the back of her hair is matted every morning, and its super fine baby hair so nothing stays in it. I looked at kids detanglers, but they all say they are for older kids. Have you used them on a 3 year old, or do you have any other recommendations?
TIA!!

What can I do next?

I have always used the Johnson's and Johnson's detangler in the green bottle, since she was 2. It's is the only thing that works in my daughter's hair!

We have always used Suave detangler. My youngest is a wild sleeper and has had tons of hair since she was a tiny baby. I've used Suave detangler on her since she was an infant; no ill effects noted. :)

I second the tangle teaser...only $10 at Sally beauty supply. It is a must have and I promise there will not be any more tears or tangles. I use an leave in conditioner on my girls hair....whatever smells good and I have a coupon for at the time. This is more so it is easier to put clippies or pony tails in.

I second the satin pillowcase... they are much better for your hair and skin.

We always used Suave detangler.

Braid her hair at night & you won't have to deal with the mess in the morning.

I personally use 1 part conditioner and 2 parts water in a spray bottle. My oldest has fine hair and my youngest has super curly hair and this ended up working better than the million bottles of detanglers I invested in when they were little. In combo with a spray or 2 in the mornings, when you wash her hair the night before, condition it well, dry it and braid it or braid it damp so that it retains some dampness and keeps the hair in place somewhat, without the tangles. Braiding helps so much! Since she has such fine hair, I would advise you to use 2 hair ties. One at the base to make a ponytail, make the braid and use the 2nd hair tie. If one braid doesn't work, try 2 or even 3. Just make sure you double the hair tie. one to hold in place, one to finish. Also, don't wash her hair everyday. Allow the natural oils to coat her roots. With fine hair you may want to try every other day or 2 days, as the tendency is for it to look greasy. Good luck.

Make sure you don't send her to bed with wet hair. That will make it easier to make knots in and harder to comb out.

I don't know how long your babe's hair is, but when my daughter was that age, she had long hair. It was very fine, though. So, I put her hair in a braid at night and her hair was tangle-free in the morning.

If you have to dampen her hair, do so after you have gently taken the tangles out dry. Start from the bottom with a wide toothed comb or brush and then wet her hair if you need to settle it down.

I personally think that tangles can be harder to get out in wet hair.

Just my opinion.

Try Hawaiian Silky Miracle Worker. We've tried the 14-in-1 and the 7-in-1 of this brand, and they both work great. I can only find it at the local Sally's beauty store.

Tangle Teezer brush and Original Sprout Miracle Detangler. I tried everything else on my daughters hair. Both are $12.99 each, but I'd spend double that. My daughter no longer screams and fights getting her hair combed. I can use the detangler wet or dry and even without the brush it does well. I got them at Cartoon Cuts.

Use a bottle of water with a tiny bit of conditioner in it, not enough to leave it heavy or oily looking. I wet the kids hair down each morning, well, it's not dripping but pretty damp, with water and a few drops of Tea Tree Oil in it. I have to shake it up like crazy but it helps with any lice issues and it also makes the hair easier to style.

I have my granddaughter comb her hair and put it in a low pony tail or braid (s) at night so that it is easier to manage in the mornings too.

I've been using Suave Kids Detangler on my daughter's curly hair since she was at least 3 - I find it cheapest at Walmart. My hubby thinks I could just combine some children's conditioner with water in a spray bottle to do the same thing, but I don't think it would be cost effective, maybe. But you could do something like that too if you're worried about age and safety.

Good Luck!

I have used Fairy Tales Leave-In Detangling Spray on my daughter (now 5 years old) since she was a toddler. It works very well on her hair (and it has a pleasant - but not overpowering - smell , too). Fairy Tales products are safe for young children (and, contrary to popular belief, they are not just for lice prevention/removal). They are not sold in many stores (Ulta Beauty is one store that carries the line.), but they can be purchased online. Good luck!
