I asked a question about my birth control about a week ago and I know that the shot was what was causing the issues I was having. I talked to my doctor about it yesterday when I was suppost to take the 2nd shot and we both said I needed to stop taking it. Today I feel worse then I did yesterday. Should I call my doctor or will this go away. How long will it take the depo shot to get out of my system?

What can I do next?

for me it took about a full year for it to get out of my system. I had 3 rounds of it. The only reason I even got my period back was because I went on the pill finally and it made it come back. I was on the pill for 4 months to get back to normal and went off of it and haven't used any birth control since. That was 10 years ago

It can take 6 months to a year for the side effects to wear off. There was a thread a couple weeks ago about Depo and someone mentioned they went on a different horomone pill and it counteracted the side effects - you might want to search and see if you can find that thread.

it takes a while to get out of your system but trust me you are much better off without it. You will be back to your old self soon.

It's supposed to be good for what? 3 months? So my guess is that it's to be in your system for up to 3 months.

I can't say exactly how long it will take, because everyone's metabolism is different. I will go away though. I still have some side effects from when I was getting the shot (such as an uneven period), but the unbalanced, hormonal CRAZY (as I like to call it) did go away.
Think about how long it was between when you first got the shot, and when they said you didn't need to use other methods of birth control anymore. THAT is how long it takes for the drug to permeate your system. And that shoudl be where you count your three months from...
