Deo----smelly Pits for a 9 Year Old.

I'm wondering if 9 would be too young to introduce deodorant to my daughter. I can't for the life of me remember how old I was. I do remember Tussy was my first deo LOL. Do they still make that?!?!? Maybe teen Spirit would be a good start for her. When did your child start wearing deodorant and what kinds?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone! I talked to her and she agrees she is ready for it. I remember kids in school having an odor and their parents wouldn't purchase it for their kids. I want to make sure my kids are comfortable with things they need for personal hygiene. Gosh, next will be shaving, bras and periods! Discussing it a little at a time helps. Thanks everyone :)

My daughter is 8. She uses it.

She uses the "Arm & Hammer- Essentials, Natural Deodorant."
I get that for her because it has NO aluminum in it nor Parabens.

No she is not too young.
Better to have good hygiene... than smell and/or get teased, or her Teacher telling you.

Is she starting to get secondary sexual indicators? Hair growth, menes?
If yes, please see WestonPrice for diet suggestions to slow this down- 9 is young.
Make sure there is NO soy in her diet- read the labels.
Make sure no junk in her diet, which will help with order as well.
Best, k

If she needs it she's not to young to use it. The Teen Spirit or any of the Teen brands are okay. I let my girls pick out their own deodorant when they said they were ready. As I recall my younges one was about 11 when she started wearing it and my oldest daughter was 12. It depends on each child at which age to introduce deodorant. If she needs it then get it.

I asked this question in Nov. 2 days before my DD turned 9, I got a whiff of BO. She has been using Sauve sweet pea. The store I went to didn't carry teen spirit. At Basketball several 3rd grade girls need it.

My son had this problem in 2nd grade. I think he was 7 and boy did he smell. We got him Tom's Deo to use since it's more natural and aluminum free.
