Probably the only thing that fits those criteria is Parker. Hoepfully no one has a job in Denver, because that's a commute. (Too long for me, but people do it)
Hi there,
We are thinking about moving to the Denver area, but are looking for a place with land that can be up to 40 minutes from the airport. Any suggestions? We don't really want super close neighbors, just some space and the feel of nature around us, but of course price will come into play:) Please let me know if you have any recommendations, thanks!!
Thank you all so much for your help!!! What a great amount of information and so appreciated! We are waiting to hear on a job, but I will let you know what happens and thank you for the name and number of the realtor, too, which I will definitely keep!!!

HI--
I'd agree with the Parker, Frank town suggestion. Elizabeth also has land, but will be further from the airport.
Good luck with the move!

We live out in Franktown and LOVE it. Our whole neighborhood has 5 acres or more for each house. We have deer that come in our backyard almost daily. The schools out here are really good, too. That was a HUGE selling point for us. We are still in Douglas county and about 45 minutes from the airport.
I agree, Franktown is a great area. Just a few miles further east of Franktown is Elizabeth and Kiowa. They are small towns that offer a rural atmosphere. There are many rural subdivisions that offer nice sized lots 5-60 acres. We are a little further from the airport, 1 hour. Parker, Franktown, Elizabeth, Kiowa areas are on the High Plains of Colorado. You can see the mountains, many of these areas have trees, and it is beautiful. North of Denver is much more bleak, however you are closer to the mountains. Land/housing is less here in the Elizabeth/Kiowa area compared to Douglas county (Franktown/Parker/Castle Rock) Elizabeth is the larger of the two towns and has a Walmart and Safeway. I think you need to come to Colorado and spend a few days driving around and getting a feel for the area to see what appeals to you. This is a semi-arid area, so it will be much different from Washington, unless you are from the eastern half. We're actually in a drought right now and it is brown instead of green. Hope this helps.
Brighton has a lot of land and is close to the airport and is relatively inexpensive compared to other areas. You may want to look there. Our renters just purchased a decent house (needs some work) on 5 acres for $180k.
If you need an agent, call Tommy Probasco at ###-###-####. He is a native of the metro area and can give you some good advice on where to look. I'd give him a call even if you don't need an agent. He is very knowledgeable and he'll take the time to talk to you and give you some advice on the different areas even if you don't use him.
Watkins or Bennett are possibilities too.
I lived in Longmont about 30 miles north of Denver...it's a great area...
However, land in any Denver area is hard to come by...and if you do, it is extremely expensive. Good luck.
Franktown which is about 30-40 minutes SE of Denver has many homes that are on 5+ acre lots for pretty reasobable prices. It is also very close to Parker which is where I live and Parker is a bigger "city" (don't think we are actually a city yet), but we have tons of restaurants, grocery stores, best buy etc. My in-laws bought their home in Franktown for about 50,000 cheaper and they have 5 acres and we are on like .25 acres LOL!
Check out Todd Creek in Brighton. All lots are 1 1/2 + acres. Airport is less than 1/2 hour away.
