Usually they are pretty easy to change......
Where to buy the battery depends on what kind it is..... big box (walmart) type stores often carry them, especially if they have an automotive section. Otherwise, check auto parts stores. I'm sure they can help you, too.
We have a Batteries + store in our neighborhood. That is where I'm going to take my remote soon. It doesn't work all the time. I understand that they will change the battery for you. I'm not sure they'll have a battery. Guess I'll call first.
You could also try Radio Shack. If they have the batteries, I know they'll change it for you.
And an auto parts store would be a good one to call.
The dealership is where we have always gone.
Consult your car's manual. Get online if you don't have it. Its easy enough after reading the directions.
Walmart has them. They were in the Electronics Section the last time I was there, but the Jewelry Counter can also have them. (Usually the Jewelry Counter only has the watch batteries, and those are smaller than the ones most car remotes use.)
To find out which battery you need, you'll need to go ahead and open the remote. The number is on one side of the battery.
Really, changing the battery is super easy. It never even dawned on me to take it somewhere to be changed or pay a dealer to change it. I don't even want to know what they would charge!
ETA - I just watched the video, and I have never gone through that many steps to change the battery. Maybe those remotes were more complicated or something, but once I popped the remote open, I slid out the battery. I have never taken so many pieces apart. I can see why someone would be hesitant to do it themselves if they had to go through all that.
Call Walmart to see if they carry the battery you need. I think we've always just changed them ourselves but it really depends on if your back comes off or if it's a solid piece where you have to replace the whole tool.
