Hi moms,
My 13 month old daughter is starting daycare/school next month and I need to purchase a sleeping for her to take naps on. I want to buy a nice one that will be comfortable for her to make this transition easier.
Any suggestions??

What can I do next?

If you have a Dollar General there, they have a nice padded mat that can be wiped off. And the best part is, they are only $5!

My son's daycare has mats and parents bring in a sheet and blanket. I wouldn't want a sleeping bag because they sheets have to be washed so often... we wash ours every week, and more if their diapers leak.

Whether they have mats or just use them on the floor you still need to get one, I recommend getting one mentioned before with a small pillow attached. It's so nice to use a pillow isn't it? They could really use the comfort too. I think bringing the sleeping bag/pad/stuff home every Friday would be sufficient.

I noticed Walmart has a sleep mat (for daycare) available this year in their back to school section. I am not sure if it is what you're looking for but I don't recall seeing them in years past.

Use a mat that can be wiped off rather than a sleeping bag. It is easier for everybody :)

One Step Ahead has a lot of differnt options for toddler sleeping. Cots, mats, little tents, etc...

I would check with your state's regulatory agency as to the rules for children sleeping at daycares. I know AZ requires children to be on cots with legs that raise them off the floor, but MANY MANY MANY daycares, both commercial and in home, use simple mats on the floors anyway. I'm suggesting you check before you buy anything, because you need to know what the law requires and whether your daycare is following the law regarding napping children and so you can know what other laws to watch for. Good luck!

When my son needed one at the private daycare, they had sleeping bags there that could be purchased. I would ask what the other kids use so that your daughter has something similar.

I actually sew nap time mats and sell them. Like a miniature sleeping bag...except mine have an attached pillow, so it won't get lost and an attached blanket that is large enough to cover them up.

You can check Target and Walmart...I am pretty sure I have seen some with Dora or other characters on them at my child's Mother's Day Out program.

You can check sites like Etsy.com if you want to have one made for her.

Yep, the sleeping mats are great. I just got my son one. But I wasn't real comfortable with him just lying on the plastic/vinyl, so a king size pillow case fits them with everything but like 3 inches where their pillow goes, so they are laying on a sheet not just on straight plastic. And you can just take the pillow case off and throw it in the wash.

All mine used the red and blue mats that fold up. They took their favorite blanket to use to cuddle with. They are really cool. I had several that they used during the summer to lay in front of the TV and when we camped. They wore them out.
