Day 40 and Still Not Positive for Pregnancy

I'm 43 and have one 3 year old child. I got pregnant easily with him and have had no luck since. We did 5 clomid, 3 IUI and 5 IVF cycles over the course of 2 years and zilch. My cycle has always been regular. Exactly 14 days after I ovulate, I get my period, whether ovulation is day 11 or day 20. Lately, I've been between day 17 and 22. I'm pretty sure I ovulated around day 23 this past cycle, so I expected to see my period 14 days later - day 37. It's still not here and I'm crampy, bloated, exhausted and nauseous. I know it's improbable that I'm preggo, I just never miss a cycle and we do "try" each month, having intercourse regularly though out my cycle. I doubt I missed the ovulation period. I had a blood test today and it came back as a ONE. Most people would find that to be no, you're not pregnant, but when I was pregnant with my son (who was a twin at that point), I tested minus 2 on day 42 and 5 days later, day 47, I tested positive on a home test. So, I'm not sure I put much into the blood test, but was curious if anyone else out there had been down this road - at a later "maternal" age. Do you think it's possible I could be pregnant? The doc said no and that my body is cramping because I missed a cycle and it's "confused". She's also the one who tried to induce my period after that negative 2 test, when in fact I was indeed pregnant. I thought maybe I should just continue testing until day 47 and see. Has this happened to anyone? Thanks in advance for advice!

Thank you all for responding. I wanted to email each of you but can't seem to find that feature. I am thrilled to hear your stories and it certainly gives me hope. I am going to keep testing until I either get a period or a positive result. I will definitely update. If anyone can tell me how to email people who have responded, I would appreciate it! Thank you so much again. Keep the stories coming!

I personally would wait another week or 2 and see what happens...seems too early to really tell. When I was having issues w/ my cycle, the Dr. told me to take it month to month. I'd wait and do a home test next week.

A very long time ago, when trying to conceive our first, my mom gave me the best advice, the same advice, in fact, when I hoped to meet the man I'd marry: stop thinking about it, just relax and have fun. Low and behold, with baby I was. And yes, you can have a baby at 43. I'm 44, and have a 3 month old in addition to my 16 and 12 year old!

I'd say wait a bit longer just to be sure. Anything is possible.

I had my first baby at 41 and second at 45 so I just wanted to let you know that ,yes, it is possible to have healthy babies at "late maternal age". First time was easy to get pregnant and the second was quite a bit harder. I did herbs and acupuncture the second time around and I think they helped regulate my cycles/hormones a lot.
Wish you all the best.

I had my son at 42. First and only IVF cycle. I would wait a week and then test. I know it is torture. I remember the waiting being the worst part! Good luck! It will happen :).

Well, based on your own past experience, you very well may be pregnant. Just keep waiting. Don't you wish there was something more you could do? That waiting game is so hard!! Good luck to you.

I agree with what others are saying, I think you need to wait a bit more. I also think it is scary that your Dr. tried to induce your period when you were pregnant! Just all the more reason to wait and while you are waiting, take those prenatal vitamins just in case! Good luck.

I would change doctors and just wait and see. Time will definitely tell you what is truly going on.

If you want to reach out to anyone that has responded just click on their name and then you should be able to send them a personal message. I hope this helps.

I have a friend who never tests positive on either blood or home pregnancy tests, yet she has 3 kids ;-) Her first OB told her it was "all in her head" and then a couple of weeks(after a lot of pushing from her) later low and behold there was a baby showing up on the sonogram.
