Hello Moms. My twin daughters both have dry lips and the area around them. I think they are teething even though they are not quite 4 months but my son had 2 teeth at 4 months. Does anyone have any suggestions on something safe I could use to clear them up before it gets worse. Thanks.

What can I do next?

Use Aquaphor on them - especially b-4 naps and bed and especially if they use pacifiers. This will help keep them from drying out.

i agree with the others about the aquaphor or the lanisnoh both are safe and work quick to end the redness/dryness.

A&D ointment (also great for diaper rash, cuts, scrapes...we love this stuff). It is great for chapped lips...or wind burned skin. Try it!

My thought is dehydration. Easy to get especially for a child. Try to water down their juices, etc so they are getting more liquid. Are they drinking a lot of sugary stuff too?

You can try good old fashioned olive oil. Or Earth Angel's nipple cream which has olive oil in it. It is also vegan certified and the only cream that is safe for the baby to ingest. Good luck!

Boudreaux (the people who make "Butt Paste" ) also make a lip balm. You might want to look into that.

Hi T.,
Lansinoh Lanolin should help, and it's absolutely safe for infants.

Try Eucerin. Since it's safe to put on your nipples when breast-feeding, it will be safe to put on your babies lips.

Burt's Beeswax Lip Balm is all natural and can be bought at any health food store at vitamin shoppe. Another thing you can try is vitamin E oil, just message a little on and around their lips.
