My daughter is having her 2nd birthday party this Saturday. We are having a low-key party at the house (as low-key as it can get with a very large family). Anyway, my daughter goes to a private sitter with just one other little 2 year old so there will not be a bunch of daycare friends her age. We will have a wide array of ages from 2 up to about 12 +...not so worried about entertaining the older or teenage kids. Any suggestions for games to entertain the different age groups? Not necessarly all at once maybe different sort of games. I am open to any suggestions. Thank you!

What can I do next?

How about a things to make and do party.

When my dd turned one we had everyone make their own party hats. See if you can get your hands on grocery paper bags. Roll the open end until they get the desired depth decorate with feathers, raffle tickets, poms, any scraps really...you can make a contest for the funkiest hat. You can incorporate a craft table for other stuff as well

Let them play with sidewalk chalk, bubbles, etc - you can get it for pretty cheap and they love it. Also, see if you can find a cheap water toy - one that either hooks up to the water hose and squirts around or a water table that you fill up and let them play in. You might be able to find one at kid to kid or some other type of resale shop. Good luck!

For my daughter's 2nd birthday, we had kids ranging in that area except it was from 6months to 15 years.. ((a lot of family lol)) anyway, we had a LOT of balloons and some music... ALL the kids and even some of the adults liked dancing. And all the kids up to about 8 liked playing with the balloons. Good luck!

We had a slip and slide set up for my sons second birthday and that was a big hit with all age kids, and for his 3rd birthday we rented a bounce house. That was a blast!!! I would just have a kiddie pool, sprinkler, water toys, balloons, balls, sidewalk chalk for hopscotch, etc. You dont have to have specific games just nice to have a variety of little things to do. You could even get a pinyata. You dont have to entertain them for to long by the time you eat, do presents, cake and ice cream there isn't a whole lot of time left. Have fun!!

What we did at our granddaughter's 2nd party was this: We copied ladybugs from the computer and they used dod markers to put the dots on the back of the lady bug. Then my daughter drew a large lady bug on poster board and colored it with markers and the kids played "put the dot on the ladybug". She had bought peel and stick red dots that were about 2" wide and they played it like pin the tail on the donkey. She made oweey bags out of ladybug fabric with flaxseed in them, about 4 inches square for thier treat bag along wiht hair bows and fancy straws, etc. They can be heated in microwave or frozen. Then they put peel and stick decorations onto a head band or visor and had presents, cake and ice cream and juice and we were done. One hour and a half is long enough for that age and you watch the time and stay on schedule and then they go home.

Last year, for my twins 2nd birthday, we did a bug themed party.

I went to Dollar Tree and got some foam sheets shaped like butterflies and some foam stickers, googly eyes, and poms. I think I spent $5.

Everyone decorated their butterflies and were really proud!! One of my nieces hung her's up in her room and she's 8. So it was successful for all ages. :)

Something we did for our son's 2nd birthday worked really well...

We set up a sheet in the corner of the room and used it as a "fishing wall". My dad was behind the sheet. The kids would use a fishing pole with a clothespin on the end, cast it behind the sheet, and wait for a tug on the end of the line. When they pulled it up, they had a prize on the end. The prizes were stuffed animals from a local garage sale or from the dollar store.
