Daughter Shaking Head

My 19 month old daughter occasionally (maybe once a week) shakes her head back and forth. She does it to be silly or when someone says the word "crazy". However, she does it VERY quickly. My concern is that she could possibly be doing some damage similar to shaken baby. Is this a possibility or am I just being a worrier? She never does it for more than a few seconds. But, if I ask her to stop or tell her no, she just does it more. If I ignore it completely she eventually stops on her own.

What can I do next?

I think it's like spinning around in circles really fast - but since she's too little to that she just shakes her head. My girls use to do that. Try it - it's fun :o)

I don't think shes going ot cause herself any damage.

My son loves to do this as well. I think that he actually likes the dizzy feeling that it gives him. He also likes to spin in circles. It goes through phases, but I don't see any reason why it would be a real problem. I just wonder what is going to happen when he grows up.... Ughhh!

I wouldnt worry...and I wouldnt make a big deal out of it. She is probably enjoying the way things "look" when she does it....or maybe it changes the sounds she is hearing at the time. I would not worry about "shaken baby syndrome"...that is something much more violent than they can do to themselves by shaking their heads...no matter how hard they do it!11 It sounds to me like she is doing it on command....when you say "crazy"....so it is really pretty cute...lol.
Enjoy!!!

Good Morning J., It's perfectly normal for children to do this. Like they learn to say No, you say No baby and shake your head No at the same time.
It's fun for them and really won't hurt them. Corbin was our little NO man, Zane is our Yes man...lol His head goes back and forth super fast also, then he giggles. When they learn to make noises at the same time though, that can get hysterical!

Don't worry Mama, she is just fine, just having fun.
God Bless
