I am going through the same thing and the doctor told me they are probably nightmares, my son is 21 months. She will grow out of it. Good Luck
My daughter is almost 20months, she has always been pretty good about sleeping throughout the night. In the last two weeks, she wakes up after being in bed for 2-3 hours, then cries frequently at 5:oo am. She never completely wakes up during the crying spells, which make me wonder if she is having bad dreams, i am very confused by this and wondering if anyone out there has experienced the same thing.

I read somewhere it is growing pains. My daughter at 2 sometimes does this. Watch her and see if she is eating more than normal. Sometimes it's a bad dream too. When I was trying to work out at a gym, I had put Hannah in the daycare there, it was very trumatic for her and that night she woke up crying. I am sure it's normal! Good luck! Jen
My son is 26 months and he started doing that around that age (still does on rare occasions).
Its always short and he puts himself back to sleep.
I'm sure its a phase that she will simply outgrow. If it continues for too long and you feel like it interfers with her having a solid night's sleep then I would discuss it with your pediatrician.
If she is not fully waking up do not worry about it. She might just be going through night terrers. They are different from a bad dream. Usually they will scare you more than the child. A child with night terrers usually do not remember the episode on the morning. Just make sure that she is securely in her bed during this time. If she is still in her crib just gently lay her back down and console her until the episode is over. If she has transfered into a toddler bed lay down with her. This is just to make sure that this does not lead into the more dangerious sleep walking. Sleep walking is not as dangerious as what they can do during that time. And just like everything else this will pass in time.
Hi,
My daughter had the same problem. Check to see if she may have an ear infection. Brianna wasn't showing any of the typical signs. She just was not sleeping through the night. Good Luck.
It might be teething, or she is not getting enough activity throughout the day. Also, she's eating regular foods now, right? Maybe theres something shes eating with too much sugar? Like juices or other sweets.
Good luck
It may have something to do with her 24 month molars coming in. My daughter has had the same troubles since about then, and her molars just started coming through(that i could see) at about 25 months. But it seems they looked like they were going to break through for a long time before then. At 28 months now, they are half way through, so that tells you how long it can take until they are in and how slowly they come through. She's never been as good a sleeper as my older daughter, but in the last few weeks, she's slept through the night just about every night. So there is hope! It may also be some bad dreams as well.
