My husband and I are sending our daughter to my parents house Saturday night so we can have a 'date night'. I just have no idea what to do! I'd like something different than dinner and movie, but we don't want to spend a fortune. We live in Lavon, so Rockwall, Plano, even Dallas or Addison since we have all night. Any suggestions??

What can I do next?

You probably have enough ideas. I live in Rowlett and I love going to the Harbor on Lake Ray Hubbard. I love to eat at Gloria's or they have plenty of other places to choose. If you have not been there I do NOT recommend eating at Dodi's or the Italian place.
It is beautiful when the weather is nice.

This is wide open...... because it all depends on what you and your hubby like to do. Since you have all night, you have a plus!!!! I might be lengthy here so please forgive me...

My hubby and I have date night weekly at least once. We do different things, here are a few things we do:

We enjoy college football/basketball as well as the NFL.....if there is a great game on, we go to Fox Sports Grill in Plano at the Shops of Legacy. It can be a lot of fun. When the game is over....

Step 2: we go to Martini Park to listen to the band (starts at 9) socialize and maybe dance a little.

Step 3: we go to Loft 610 in Frisco at 121/Tollway to listen to the DJ (starts at 10), check out the crowd and socialize.

If there are no games on, we enjoy a nice bottle of wine at Cru Bar either at Shops of Legacy or Watters Creek in Allen. Both are good and food is unique as well. There is usually a band at Shops of Legacy that plays on weekends early evening and anyone at the restaurant patios hear the music. There is a lot of activity there.

We have enjoyed places such as Carson's Live, Sullivan's, and PF Changs at the tollway/Trinity Mills.

If we are in the mood for a great dinner, we go to Del Frisco's, III Forks, Sullivan's, Patrizio in Highland Park, etc.

Downtown Dallas is alot of fun and if we had a night....we would spend it at Hotel Zaza. It is a great people watching, socializing place. The W hotel is a bit over rated in my opinion but check it out at least once! I can't handle the nightclub so high in the air with the little balconies that look WAY DOWN and seeing the Southwest flights so seem so close.

The AAir center has a lot of things going on as well with the big screen there ar channel 8. This summer they had movies on Tuesday nights (free)

We don't get a night away very often due to family all being a plane ticket away, however now that dd is 13 sometimes she is invited to sleepover parties and we have a cherished night. We do stick close to home on those dates just in case of emergency. Most of the time, all sleepovers are here becauae the kiddos love to come here and have their own space and chill out (with supervision)

We are planning a date weekend in the near future to Cabo. It is a lot of work to get a sitter to watch DD, 3 dogs nad make sure dd is at her functions on time.

Other things depending on your interests...golfing, tennis, going to a sporting event or concert.

Other times, especially if DD is on a sleepover, we enjoy grilling a great steak, enjoying a nice bottle of wine and having some couple time.

Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy and make the most of it. We are going to celebrate 20 yrs this New Years Eve!!! Date night has always been a priority.

Best wishes!!

Check and see if there are any festivals in the area. My husband and I are very competitive, so we always try to find some kind of game involved. Mini-golf (putt-putt), bowling, carnivals with games, Dave & Busters. It is a lot of fun and we spend the night talking and laughing together. We also make friendly wagers on the games, anything for chores around the house to more romantic things.

Pocket Sandwich Theater is a great date night. They are cheap too. My hubby and did a date there for are anniversary. The whole night for the play and food (they serve food and drinks) was about $70 and we had a great time. They are located right off 75 and Mockingbird. We have always had a blast, but if you go make sure to get reservations.

Hi, C.. I live in Rockwall and absolutely love The Harbor. I am divorced and getting ready to re-enter the dating world (scary). And, I was thinking of a fun and interesting date here in Rockwall. Something I thought might be fun and romantic is have a progressing dinner along the harbor. Go to one restaurant early in the evening for a cocktail and appetizer. Take a walk along the harbor, visit some shops, watch the sunset over Lake Ray Hubbard. Choose a different restaurant for your main course. The weather is so nice right now you might want to sit outside. Most of them have great patio views over the lake. Take another walk. Then pick another venue for dessert or I think there's a creamery there and you can find a great spot for sharing flavors. Remember, there's also restaurants at the Hilton Bella Harbor, too.

Have fun!

I love Firewheel Mall. There are a few good restaurants there. Just walk around and window shop or just sit at the nearby park and talk.
