I want to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to get my sons knees to look clean. He is always on his knees playing with toys. I scrub them when I bathe him but they are still dark. My son has very light skin. I hope someone can help me. I worry about anyone thinking I never bathe him. I bathe him daily. The skin is ruff aound the knee. Probably from me scrubbing so hard.

Please help

Have you tried putting lotion on them? I would think if you put lotion on a few times a day that would take care of the problem.

I have seen some knee pads for infants at Babies R Us. I think after a while of not crawling on his knees they would start to clean up and stay clean.

Calluses [sp] will form on a kid's knees if they are always kneeling...it doesn't mean that you don't wash your son, and I doubt anyone would think that was the case. Lotion may help, but it's really nothing to worry about. Relax, mom, you're doing fine :)

The roughness of the knees is probably due to a combination of you scrubbing at bathtime and him moving around the floor while he is playing. My son's are the same way from playing with his cars/trucks on the floor. As far as the discoloration, what type of surface is he playing on. If he is playing on a dark carpet for instance, it might be causing the color change.

I would say that is exactly why they are rough and dark. You are contributing to rather than helping the problem. His playing on his knees can't be helped, but try to exfoliate once in a while (once a week!!, no more than twice a week)! That should slowly help soothe and heal the skin. All kids knees are somewhat darker.

My sister had this oproblem as a child. Try using Eucerin or a thick lotion. It is probably due to very dry skin.

Bleach? No I am just kidding. Maybe you can try cleaning his knees with a wippie when he gets dirty through out the day. Also try lotion to keep the skin moist. When skin gets dry it holds on to the color. Also don't worry about what people think. You know you bathe him. And he is a boy, so he is gonna play on the ground. Hope you find out something!:)
