Yeah I had that also with both my kids. The doctor said it was the egg implanting onto the uteris.
i was a bit freaked out the first time also. When I noticed it I was 2-3 weeks prego. Then it went away.
Hey ladies,
I recently found out I was pregnant (yay!!!) about three weeks ago. Recently, I've noticed a dark brown discharge when going to the bathroom. It isn't a lot by any means, but of course when you see something like that you freak out a little.
Anyone know what this could be caused by?

It could be a few things.
Depending on where you are in your pregnancy.. it could be implantation bleeding.
Some women just spot during pregnancy. I've had quite a few friends who spotted and were just fine.
My personal experience with brown spotting during pregnacy was a miscarriage. My miscarriage started with brown spotting, then went to bright red blood after about a week. Just keep an eye on it. It shouldn't be accompanied with cramping or bright colored blood. If it does, call your OB.
After I miscarried I got pregnant right away (within a week) and now im 9 months along. Good luck.
I had that with my first daughter. If i hadnt know that i was pregnant i would have thought i was just having a super light period. They say that the spotting is caused from the egg implanting to the side of the uterus, it sluffs off a little of the lining. I would still maybe call your dr to make sure.
It's probably implantation bleeding, which is perfectly normal and healthy. Just to be safe, I think you should check with your doctor.
I had the same thing and they told me it was implantation bleeding.
M.,
Dark brown spotting is usually "old" blood and is "usually" not a problem but with any spotting, I'd highly recommend that you call your doctor. Better safe than sorry. I spotted off and on through most of my pregnancy with my second child and he's fine but it was awfully scary. I've had 2 miscarriages and with the first one, I started out with the brown discharge and then it went to bright red. So you just never know. Time for a trip to the dr!

Dear M.,
You need to call your doctor and get some information - It may be o.k., then it may be not o.k. I don't know what TMI is, but, spotting like that was serious in my own personal experience. C. N.
Don't worry, I had spotting for a long time with both of my pregnancies and they both turned out great. It's probably just implantation bleed. Congratulations! S.
Hi M.,
My doctor described this to me as being "old blood." He said not to be concerned unless I saw "new" bright red blood. It happened to me with both my healthy pregnancies. You can always call your OB for reassurance, but my guess is you have nothing to worry about even though it's always a little scary to see any blood (new or old) when you're pregnant.

I don't know what could be causing this, but if you are concerned, call your dr. he/she might be able to tell you, and that will hopefully calm your fears. It is probably nothing....when I was pregnant with my 18 month old, I had what the dr. told me was just a little period, and it was totally normal. So, call your dr. it may be just a little period. Who knows. But talking to the dr. will put your mind at ease.
Not sure how many weeks you are, but I think around 6 weeks you can experience implantation bleeding. I know I did. I went to my doctor, had an ultrasound and everything was fine. I also know that I read dark colored blood is usually "old" blood and bright red blood is what you should be concerned about. I would still call your doctor if you are concerned though!
I did this with a few of my pregnancies. The doctor told me that happens when the fetus attaches to the wall of your uterus. It's usually not anything to worry about. Just take it easy for a few days.
