I have tan skin and dark hair. I always have dark marks under my arms, even after shaving. Does anyone know if there is a way to get rid of it? I would love to be able to wear tank tops this summer and not be self conscience. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

Hi C.,

I have seen a lot of client with the same problem. What I usually tell them is stop the shaving first! Start waxing! This will help your skin a lot!
As far as home remedies, there are a lot of whitening treatments that you can use at home, but I'm not sure how efficient or safe they are. I would find a local medical spa near your home, they will be able to help you! I usually do chemical peels on my clients to solve the problem, and have seen some satisfying results! Hope this helps!

I agree with Sara - waxing is an option. You could also consider laser treatments. Although it is more expensive, you might be a good candidate for it since your hair is dark? I see lots of deals like 2 for 1's at reputable places :)

Good luck!

My best advice is to talk to a Dermatologist. There may be a very safe, effective and cost-efficient treatment available that will help you alleviate your self-consciousness.

I'm not a big fan of home/natural remedies because there really is no scientific/clinical evidence to support their safety or effectiveness.

I had a friend who had the same problem under her arms and around her knees. She had been to dermatalogist and they never gave her any answers. She read Jillian Michaels book and found out it was from hormones. She changed her diet and it made it much lighter. Good luck!

This sounds weird, but it may very well be your deodorant you are using. If you use a solid this could happen. I always used a roll on and stores quit carrying that brand, so I bought a solid to see if it worked just as well and it turned my under arms dark brown. I've found another roll on to use and now, it's slowly going away.
