Dallas Zoo and DART

Hey Moms! We are going to visit the Dallas Zoo for the first time with my daughter, and I was wondering if anyone has taken the DART there. We would be getting on at the Carrollton Location, and I know that we will have to change lines once, but I was wondering how the neighborhoods are between the DART drop off and the entrace to the Zoo. Is it a far walk? Is the neighborhood safe? TIA!

**NOTE** When I say DART I mean the train, not the busses. :)

The DART station is right by the entrance, and it's safe. We went to the zoo so often, we finally bought a membership and drive there since we can park for free. My daughter still gets mad that we don't take the train anymore--she loved it!

I've taken the Dart to the Zoo where will you be switching lines. That will help me answer your question. Will you be taking the train? Because if you are I think that's the safest way to take Dart if your traveling to the Zoo. I've taking the Dart Train off of 75/forest lane and it drops me off directly at the Zoo. The train drops you off right in the front and it is very safe. You will not have to pass a neighborhood. The walk from the train tracks to the front entrance of the zoo is short. You can see the entrance right when you get off the train. On Dart when you connect to a different train it is very safe. There will be alot of people getting on and off. I have also seen security there. Don't worry you will be safe. I know I was a little hesitant when I first went on Dart train but it's very safe. Have fun.

I've taken it from Plano and both my 4 year old and I really enjoyed it. The station is right across the road from the zoo entrance; it's a piece of cake! The only issue we had was that coming home the train was VERY crowded.

I think it's common knowledge that the Zoo is located in one of Dallas's less prestigious neighborhoods; however, it is vital to the success of the zoo that all patrons feel safe and welcome. The DART station is across the street from the Zoo entrance. I think you have a random chance of being approached by beggars at any DART station, but there's nothing the world can do about that. But I say Go Ahead! It will be fun to ride the trains.

I've taken the dart to the Zoo but from Plano, not Carrollton. My kids loved it, plus we didn't have to worry about parking or any of that. The dart drops you right off at the zoo, make sure you know what time the zoo closes so you don't have to wait too long for the dart. I'm actually thinking about taking my kiddos during spring break there on the dart too.
Have fun!

I take the Green Line (from Carrollton) all the time, and I love it! You will need to switch to the Red Line at one of the downtown stations (West End, Akard, etc.). The train stops right in front of the zoo entrance. If you go on Monday or Tuesday and show your DART tickets at the admissions office, they will give you a discount on your zoo admission.

I have ridden the DART train there several times from the Parker Road station in Plano. The train drops you off right across the street from the zoo entrance! It's GREAT! No paying to park, and you're closer to the entrance than if you park in the parking lot! Have a great time. The train is a super idea.
