Hi A., I've suggested to my 2 step-daughters (because they always ask me, "what should I get for Dad?")that they get him the Planet Earth DVD's. If you haven't seen this series it will blow you away.
Have fun, J.
I know it is early, but has anyone started thinking of Fathers Day gifts yet? Any good ideas for a sensitive hubby?
WOW! Thanks for all of the great ideas! I think I have enough great ideas to last through my son's 40th birthday!!!

We make stepping stones every year for my husband and my father-in-law. This is something they can't buy especially with the children's hand prints on them. I add the date and the child's initial inside the hand print. My father-in-law adds these to his garden, my husband puts them as stepping stones in the back yard. I have learned over the years that we prefer the color stones - clay color. We enjoy using the marbled stones also.
Similar to the other posts, I think I am going to buy my husband a digital frame so I can load it up with pictures of our kids and our family. He can have it at work, and the nice thing is that they are always changing.
I think your husband would also love a "work of art" done by your son. You could give your son crayons and have him draw your husband a picture. Then, put it in a simple frame and he can take his new artwork to the office or keep it at home.
There are a few ideas!
Sensitive as is emotional, or as in is allergic to scents/lotions/etc.
I do know that Mary Kay has some great things for dad's day and many men are taking an interest in their skin. Go to www.marykay.com and look for a consultant in your area (zip code). She can tell you a lot more about some great choices
Hello A.,
The best idea that I can suggest, as I also have a hubby who is sensitive. Sensitive of life, love, and his home. So, with that said, let your Father's Day gift come from your heart. A gift that comes from the heart, is and always has for me, been more memorable. I did give my husband one gift that I will not be able to top no matter what. Our daughter Heather is a Father's Day baby, this is one gift I cannot top, but he has always told me that gifts from the heart, are always the best.
i asked my husband if there was a favorite quote of his that inspired him or just made him happy. then i made a wooden plaque with the quote in vinyl lettering. he has really enjoyed it. you can probably get vinyl lettering in craft stores, but i went to www.creativecustomlettering.com
A.,
I am A. B as well! My husband will celebrate his first Father's Day this year. I have been putting our digital photos on shutterfly since our four month old was born. They have all sorts of gift ideas to use with your digital photos. When Jonah was born, I got a desk organizer with his newborn photos on it. For Father's Day, I am making a daddy and me book. You can choose what type of book you want whether it be a simple paperback book or a leather hard-bound one. They were also great gifts for grandmas on Mothers Day!
I stay away from electronics and such as I wouldn't have a clue what he would want or need. So I go for the 'softer' side such as a message or I have even taken my husband to get a pedicure or facial. If he's not comfortable doing this in public you can do it for him at home. I have also taken his car in to be detailed. I love the other ideas of incorporating photos of the kids into a work of art. Being that it will be warmer you could plan a picnic or an early morning balloon ride would be awesome.
Good Luck
I'm trying to think of ideas myself, but one of the things that I loved from my husband and son on Mother's Day this year were photo booth pictures. They did two sets of pictures for me of them laughing, smiling and making silly faces. They are going to work with me to have at my desk. If you're husband has a place for pictures at work, you could do something like that.
Last year for Father's Day, I went to Hobby Lobby and bought some plaster of paris and some 3D gel (in powder form). I also bought a piece of wood that is meant to be used to make a clock. (All of the items for it are at Hobby Lobby). I bought some copper colored acrylic paint and some black spray paint. I had the boys paint the board black (my husband's favorite color). Then I mixed up the 3D gel, put it into a plastic bag, and put their hands in it, (one kid's hand at a time). You wait about a minute and then take the hand out of the bag and carefully pull the hand out of the gel, which has softly hardened around their little hand. It forms a mold of their hand. Then you mix up some plaster of paris and fill the hand in with it. After 12-24 hrs, it has hardened and you can peel off the 3D gel portion and you will have the perfect mold of your child's hand. It's the coolest thing! Then you sand it and paint it with copper paint (or whatever color you prefer; I like this one because it looks bronzed). Then super glue the hand to the wooden plaque and write, "Happy Father's Day, Daddy!" in paint marker, and have them (if they are old enough) write their name under their hand. My husband isn't even remotely sensitive (couldn't be farther from it, actually!) and he LOVED it! :)
Last year my kids got dad an oak tree. We planted it in the back yard, now every day it is a symbol that he is our oak, strong and ever lasting.
I'm giving dad a photo session with our 22 month old daughter. The photographer will come to our house for the session, price was around $75.
Good luck finding something special!

My cousin's wife just gave him a list of the "32 reasons we love Daddy" for his 32nd b-day. I thought that was a great idea. I agree that buying electronics or anything like that is difficult because it's hard to know what hubby would really want, but it's pretty easy to make a list of what you love and admire about your MAN!
Good luck...I have been pondering on this, too.
From you or the kids?
Unless there is something material he really needs I would do something laborous, take over one of his jobs.
Or, massage, pedicure...something out of the ordinary that he doesn't do often.
I don't know if you scrapbook, but here is what I made my hubby from the girls this year. I cut a 5x7 piece of scrapbook paper, and basically designed a mini "page" on it. I put a picture of the girls on it, a tab with "Happy Father's Day" and the year on it, and stamped a quote on a label at the bottom. Then I bought a 5x7 acrylic frame and framed it for him. It is really cute, and it was quite inexpensive, since I used scraps that I had around the house.
Cheers,
S.
A.,
When my girls were young (3 and infant) we made their dad a shirt. On the front I wrote "My daddy deserves a pat on the back." Then on the back the girls covered it with their handprints (hands dipped in fabric paint then used stamplike to make the print). The girls are now 14 and 11 and my husband still wears this shirt proudly. Not only was it a great gift, but it was a lot of fun creating it.
Get a canvas apron and decorate it. Ideas: "King of the Grill", or handprints of kids, etc.
If they like to read -- homemade bookmark with foam paper. Black is cool with the metallic pens. Use your imagination. Write his name down it on one side and what it's for and who it's from on the other.
Make a foam paper picture frame.
Doing WHATEVER he wants to do with his day is best but I have been thinking about it too. Mostly because my man is a great one and he deserves my true through and effort on this day. I am thinking a meal, I never cook fish/sea food, I don't like the smell the taste and can't stand the house smells like it for hours and even days later. We also have three children that can all do something (even the one yr old) to say dad I love you...still working on that one.
Good luck, J.
Yesterday while I was in Wal-Mart, I saw a neck tie back in the photo section. They had taken a picture of a little boy and put it all over this tie. My husband who is very particular about such things even agreed that it was cute. I told him to beware cause that was what he was getting on fathers day. He said he was okay with that too.
Honestly, I am getting him a rolling tool chest for his garage, and the tie for good measure.
You can have you and your son's picture put onto a mousepad or coffee mug or anything really...Kiddie Kandids has lots of stuff like that.
Kodakgallery.com has wonderful gifts that you can personalize with your own photos: coffee mugs, pillow cases, technical running shirts, photo books, etc., etc. My husband loved a travel mug I gave him with a picture of my daughter and me on it. Check it out!
Another idea: I got a peach tree for my first Mother's Day after my daughter was born, and an apple tree yesterday (Mom's Day) for my son's birth in February. The trees are in our back yard, and will bring us fruit for many years to come. We took a picture of me with each kid in front of their tree. Maybe your husband would like something like this?
Hope you had a good Mother's Day and enjoyed a wonderful gift yourself!
My children love to make pictures and cards for us. This year has been crazy, though, so I'm getting a massage for my husband! I'm also calling a wife of one of his friends to set up that day for them to go golf...nothing like a break for Father's Day!
For my sensitive hubby who never gets me a mother's day present I got US a couple's massage. There are quite a few places that offer these. You get massages, manicures, pedicures facials. Someplaces let you pick what you want. A relaxing bonding time for the two of you. Or many places offer manly maassages. Just an idea.
