Hi Ladies!
Hoping someone could help me. I have a lot of windows in my living room, I have given up the idea of getting the expensive curtains that I want because it will be a small fortune. I found some cheaper ones at Target that I think I really like. The thing is, the curtains are rod pocket curtains, and I want them to be on clips instead of in the rods, for easy opening and I think it just looks better. So my question is, If I buy pocket rod curtains, are they going to look weird on clips? Hope some of you experts can help me before I buy all this stuff! =) Thanks Moms!

What can I do next?

It will look fine. I make custom draperies, but sometimes people want to use what they already have. If you don't like it you can always take the stuff back. But I dont think you will have a problem.

Hi,

You can use the clips and you wouln't be able to tell except on tab curtains.

Also check out JcPennys before you buy curtains- we searched high and low for nice curtains- you name it- we've been there- we found some at jcpenny that look and feel alot nicer and on sale they were only $20/pannel for 94" length- even cheaper than walmart and target

Hope this helps,
L.

Ohhh, I've got one up on you! Just go buy the long tableclothes! Not only are they cheaper than curtains they are sturdier too and often don't even wrinkle! My BFF ran a seam through the top for me so I could put them on tension rods...but you can use the clip rings just as easily...new sew and cheap, cheap, cheap!!!

OR, if you are really froggy, why not just buy shower curtains and use them?

I got some at JCP that you can use on the rod, or with clip rings or turn upside down and flip over and use clip rings. I love them because they are versitile. If it looks nice to you....do it.

Not sure how they would look on clips but try it. If you love the curtains but not how they look with clips on the rod part, flip them upside down and see how that looks? Or just fold the rod part down (or hem it?).

I have another solution: don't buy curtains, buy bedding- flat sheets. My family has been using flat sheets for an informal, comfortable look for years! My living room is very traditional, with lots of antiques & raspberry walls. The curtains are muslin (cream) in color, wash & dry ready. You can either use the top placket as the rod pocket, use the clips that you want to use....or add a rod pocket by sewing buttons or beads onto that top placket. (for my living room, I sewed on a variety of antique buttons - all in the same color tone & size.)

In the past, my family & I have used sheets in prints, patterns, & a variety of solids. The higher the thread count, the more light-blocking & sturdier they'll be. This does not produce a "country" look, just a simple no-fuss style. It's truly a bang-for-your-buck solution.

The rod pocket will be pressed flat when you get the curtains & I think if you hang the curtains on clips instead, you'll never notice the pocket! Especially as once the curtain is hung it'll be gathered to fit the width of the rod/window.
I searched high & low for curtains after I repainted our bedroom but couldn't find anything that went with the room that I liked...until I happened to wander through the bath section at the department store and saw some cotton shower curtains that were exactly what I wanted. I got those along with antique brass C-rings for shower curtains and turned the rings "backwards" (with the opening toward the wall.) It looks fantastic and no one would ever know they're shower curtains!

Good Morning Mo, I have rod pocket Tab curtains and really love them, it's not that hard to close them with a tug or two. Only way to see what it would look like with the clips is to try one. Or if you have the clip rods already take a sheet and see if you can hook it on ok and see how it goes.
That is if your talking about the clip rods that hold some vertical blinds etc..

You could probably call a decorator shop and ask if tab pocket curtains can be converted to clip rods. Never hurts to ask that question of someone in the know :)

Hopefully some other Mama's have better info for you!

God Bless and hope it all comes out the way you want.

PS I just washed my pocket curtians (had them dry cleaned before WOW) anyway they aren't as stiff but look great to me. Have had them for over 11 yrs.. SO for me washing the old stuff worked ok, Like you, I can't afford the expensive replacing yet.

Buy the clips. You can always take them back if you don't like it.
