These look pretty neat.. are they any good?? I never used a sling or wrap of any kind with first son, but I think it would be nice to have with having to chase my 21mth old, etc.. any comments on this product, or suggestions for something that works better?

Thanks so much for ANY advice!

I have used several. The Sleepy Wrap is great. It's like the Maya but it's made out of stretchier material. I jokingly call it "Baby Origami" because it's a big long piece of fabric that you wrap and tie to make the carrier. Don't be afraid- it comes with great directions. I liked this one because it goes over both shoulders.

When they're really small, I use the "New Native Carrier" quite a bit. It's best for when they're infants and not yet sitting up. My son wasn't always crazy about it, but my daughter loved it.

Good luck!

I haven't used the Cuddly Wrap, but it looks to me like the Moby Wrap which I did have (and still use with my 10 month old). The moby is awesome! I have used five different kinds of carriers, and the moby is hands down my favorite - it's great with really little ones because they're right against your chest, and when you do get a few minutes to sit down, your totally comfortable.

they are fabulous! you can get info at a La Leche League meeting. there are also 3 baby wearing groups...one in the grayslake area, one in chicago, and one in Lombard you can actually try on the different types and talk to some experienced mamas! I would recommend a Maya ring sling which is a great all around carrier, the Moby wrap is a great wrap for a newborn and beginner as it is stretchy. After the child is a bit heavier you would need a woven wrap. the pouch slings are OK but not adjustable so not as comfortable as the Maya. A Babyhawk Mei Tai is also great for back carrier and front carries when the baby is older too!

Never heard of a cuddly wrap, but I strongly recommend wearing your baby. Not only is "next to you" where babies want to be, but it makes caring for a toddler so much easier.

There's are many babywearing mamas that will come out of the woodwork and you'll find there's message boards and organizations just to support it.

I liked the maya wrap when my baby was little.

I had a simple "sling" given to me and I loved it! I received it when my 1st was about 9 mos. old(now 3). Now with the second(4 mos) he loves hangin' out with mom! Yes, it is easier to chase the 3 y.o. while baby is attached to mom. He is part of the activity and you have both hands free to help the toddler out. A friend of mine has the "Moby" and she swears by it too! It is a soft knit type fabric that evenly distributes the weight. BTW my sling does dig into the shoulder with prolonged use! I am not sure about the weight restrictions though? My boys are breast babies and those ones that say not above 20 lbs. well mine would be out of them by 3 mos.? The sling can be used for toddlers too! To help like a back pack. So for versatility, I like it. It also folds up like a towel so it isn't as cumbersome to pack around, when not in use.

Did you mean the swaddle me wraps? My little one used these as well for the first few months, it seems to soothe them while in early infancy (0-3 mos) Now at 4 mos he hollers when swaddled? So my bet would be buy one or two in the smaller sizes to see if your baby will tolerate it before buying the larger ones. Nothing for babies is cheap anymore?

Hey A.,
I used Maya Wraps- they have all different kinds. I've heard over-the-shoulder-baby-holder is a good one, also. I would urge you to take a class at your nearby baby goods store and/or parkdistrict. You might google la leche league and see if they know about any sling classes in your area. Usually the classes bring a bunch of different styles and you can try them out and see which one works for you. I hope this helps!
blessings,
J.

I don't know about this specific item but my babysitter used a long wrap that she had for herself for cooler weather. My daughter loved it and still likes to cuddle like that every now and then. A friend of mine also uses some type of wrap she says is similar to a long piece of cloth that you wrap around you and the baby. The Cuddle Wrap looks like it would make it easier.

With my first, I had a Maya wrap and another sling made by Infantino, I believe. She never took to the Maya and the other sling she would fall asleep instantly! With my second, someone recommended the Sleepy Wrap and I LOVE it!! It's like wearing your baby and there are no pressure points - completely comfy for both Mom and baby. Good luck!

There are so many options out there, it's great! For an older baby, an Ergo or Pikkolo can be used to wear the baby in various positions and up to 40 pounds. The same with various mei tais, like the Babyhawk. The woven wraps are also very nice, although possibly overwhelming at first if you're new to babywearing. When they're little, a Moby is perfect and super-snuggly, or a sling is good too(for example, Hot Sling, or some sort of ring sling). Personally, we have a ring sling, Babyhawk, Pikkolo, and Zara wrap. I use all of them with my son (almost 1)! I also agree that you should look for various babywearing meetings in your area. They are very helpful. I'm mostly just familiar with ones in the city. There are stores in the city you could visit and try stuff on if you wanted to do that...Be By Baby is my favorite. Good luck and feel free to send me a message if I can be of more help!
