Hi moms. I've been eyeing (sp?) the Cricut for some time now but there are so many different kinds I don't know which one to get! My question is this--which one do you own and do you love it or are there things you wish it would do? I'm thinking about getting the Cricut Personal Electronic machine because of price and size. Is it similar to the Expression one but smaller in size? Do they take the same kind of cartridges? Any info you can give me will be greatly appreciated! It's a big purchase and I want to make sure I'm getting my money's worth. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I guess which one you get, depends one what you want to use it for. I have the smaller one and am very happy with it. I just use it for basic scrapbooking, lettering, small pictures etc. If you are looking for something beyond that, making banners, decorations etc, go for the bigger one.
They do all use the same cartridges. Check out the website customcrops.com They have great sales on the cartridges, and machines.

This is the one that we have. My MIL got it for my 2 daughters ages 12 and 13. They love to make cards for her and stuff. This little machine is amazing and we love it. It did wonders for their science fair project!! My only complaint would be that it only comes with the one cartridge and the extra cartridges are a little expensive.

Good luck!!!

I have the expression, and the cartridges are the same for both cricuts. The big one is nice because you can make large cuts with it. I used poster board to make a giant Joker for my sons superhero party. The smaller one is the same, just smaller.

I love my Cricut!
I have the smaller one. I got it when the larger one was not even out yet. I will probably send the smaller one to college with my son for his projects and get the larger one for me -- if we find he needs it. (I'm kind of hoping he does need it.) The expression machine fits a larger piece of paper - which would be handy, but is not imperative.

The kids use it for projects.
I use it for posters, scrapbooking, and more.
I have a few cartridges, but find the simpler the letter design, the easier the letters are to work with...
YMMV
