My son has to decorate a plastic foot for cub scouts. The theme is grossology, smelly feet. We have a life size foot that was bought from a dog toy store. I bought fake toenails and painted them yellow. How can I distress the nails making them look bad? I was also thinking hairy wart? Not sure show to make/attach? Any other ideas? How do I get it to smell? I want this to look really gross, so please share any ideas! Thank you!

What can I do next?

My advice?
Let your son figure it out, it's HIS project after all!
This is said with kindness, as a long time scout leader I frequently had to "remind" parents not to do their child's work for them.
He's earning the badge (or loop or whatever) not you. Let him do it. You may be surprised, kids can be very creative and innovative when the adults step back :)

Yes, by all means let him figure it out. That's kinda the point, isn't it?

Sorry, but I have so many school memories of parent-hijacked projects that won awards over child-created projects. Kinda bitter, to this day. I KNOW that castle my group made out of cardboard was MUCH moreso our own creation than the stage that my friend's dad built for her group with a working trap door and velvet curtains on a pulley....guess whose project won, darn it!! :)

Dip it in vinegar for the "smelly" smell. Beware, vinegar is an acid, so it may affect the paint on the model. Maybe spray it lightly on the foot with a spray bottle.

Make a zoom model (such as a magnified circle or an exaggerated magnifying glass lense with actual pictures or sketches of fungi and bacteria glued to the foot) of the actual types of bacteria and fungus that live on feet.

Glue a dried raisen or something on it? Get a rough nail file or sand paper and sand the heels so they are scratchy then get a marker and draw cracks on it? Get some lint from the dryer and glue it between the toes? Water down some ink from a black/brown washable marker to make the nails look bad? But I agree with Mamazita and let your son figure it out...its his project. =)

I agree to give him ideas but ultimately make him figure it out. My SD's Tower of London was pretty ugly, but she learned so much. I'm sure that your son can come up with REALLY GROSS stuff that would appeal to other boys. Maybe go on WebMD and help him find some sort of disease and then figure out how to represent it on the foot.

Glue corn nuts to the feet. Just thinking about it makes me want to throw up. Your son will have plenty of ideas, let him take the lead.
