I'm looking for some craft recipes to make with my six year old. Anyone care to share any? I already have one for play dough (using cream of tarter) and koolaid play dough.

ETA: the more unique the better (lesser know recipes). And if you've tried the recipes, if you could add a quick review of how well it worked, etc. tha'd be great.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Cinnamon/applesauce Christmas ornaments. I forget the exact measurements but it is paste like, you use holiday cookie cutters for shapes, make a hole in the top for the string, let them dry out and hang them on the tree.

My daughter is almost 18 and we still have some of these in our ornament box!

They smell good too!

Salt dough

2 cups flour
1 cup salt

Add 1 cup water

Bake @200 degrees till hard, about 4 hours
You can paint it afterward.

We have used it for various school projects such as a topographical map of Greece.

silly putty
1/4 cup liquid laundry starch
1/4 cup elmer's school glue
mix together - i mixed mine inside a ziplock plastic baggie. store in the refrigerator.

goop (like gak but wont stain and washes out!)
8 oz. elmer's school glue
3/4 cup water plus food coloring
1 tsp. 20 mule team borax
1/2 cup water
in large bowl combine first 3 ingredients until well blended. in seperate cup mix borax and water til borax is disolved. pour borax solution into glue and stir. a large lump will form, work it with your hands, rubbing occasionally into remaining glue. as you work it, the glue will be absorbed and the lump will become smooth. store in airtight plastic box or ziplock bag. lasts a few weeks.
